what are you listening to ?
Well SRV covered hendrix and that is acceptable. But SRV was also a God. It better be by a serious blues guy though. And it should be covered as original as possible. My favorite blues guy does Hey Joe to perfection. But only for live shows. Shouldn't be on albums if not done better than the original. Certain artists I don't like seeing covered.
Btw playing currently (to keep it on topic)
The Derek Trucks Band - Mahjoun
Deftones - Pink Maggit (this song is awesome on good headphones or audio equipment)

And voodoo child by JH or SRV is epic.
And yeah I dig alot of blues, but your right it is hard to find. Few of the newer gen guys are up to par of your older blues players. John Mayer and Robert Randolph are about the only mainstream type players I know that will throw worthy props back to that genre.

I am not a fan of Mayer's main stream pop stuff, but the Try (John Mayer Trio) album and a few other things he's done has been real good.
Agreed on Lang, i just havent heard much about him in years.. But then again radio in this town is dead compared to what it was a decade ago.

The Allman Brothers Band - Don't Want You No More / It's Not My Cross To Bear
However right now it's DMB - Rhyme & Reason
Up next, DMB - Typical Situation
