Of course I am not as spoiled as I was. But I tend to blame it on my family. I mean for real. If they were going to say no to everything I wanted as I got older then they shouldn't have said yes to everything I wanted as a kid. :P

while i may have been spoiled when i was young (as in sexy Arins avatar young ), im glad my parents eventually taught me the value of hard work. while i didnt like it initially, i like being able to say im no longer spoiled. and my greatest pirze, a car i paid for on my own. 100% mine! and payback for all those rich kids who got whatever car theywanted and who think that expensive cars = fast cars. Arins budget built II will rule ALL!!!!

Spoiled, Nah --- but we had nice things, and we just appreciated it.

I guess that is why I spoil my girls so much now, because growing up there were things I wanted but it just wasn't gonna happen. My girls have always went to a private school and have pretty much everything they could dream up. Including their own dog, cat and horse.

I think my husband and I do a good job at spoiling them, without making them brats about it. I guess if that works, we have done our part as parents.

I'm an only child.......
Only Children are the best. I don't have to share my parents. And my kids have my parents all to themselves. Its the best. You couldn't pay me to have a sibling. PLUS my parents are still very young(52 and 49) so we all grew up together. It was great when I was little and the only grandchild.
Wasn't spoiled:
I had to pay back my dad every cent for the car he bought me. I had to buy my own gas.
My parents bought my clothes for me, and paid my insurance. I bought my before school food and snacks and paid my way on weekends. I had to work at Taco Smell for 18 months to pay em back for the car - $100 a week.

My nephew is an only child, and sorry to say, he drives me BoNkERs!!

He does not know how to share with my kids, and he is soooo sassy! I tell my sister all the time that he needed another child in that household. Now, he is 14, failing every subject, in summer school and even has been to 2 boot camps. Why? Because he is a MAJOR spoiled brat.

He has a cell phone, four wheeler and a car (no, he cant drive yet) He has way more then my kids have (material wise) but my kids have more respect and maturity then he will EVER have.

It all depends on their raising.
My parents ruled me with an iron fist. I didn't get anything over on em. So I didn't get to have little fits and go crazy.

My Dads Brother has one child and My Moms sister has one child all of them are beastly terrors. They were coddled only children. I could curl your hair with taled. My moms other sister has one child, but she is being raised like I was- its like night and day.


I had the requisite 4 wheeler, and I got to ride in my Dads mustangs, but I paid my way. I came out better for it too.

BUT now my husband spoils me, so I am ruined by him. But I figure I am 32 years old, I earned it

My dad used to always buy me a matchbox car when we went to the mall which was only like once a month. I really was never demanding. A $1 car would keep me occupied for hours and hours.

Our family never really had it easy when I was growing up. I never had any game systems or my own phone or TV or anything like that. Heck I never had cable till I was 15 and even then it was just basic.

But I had a great time growing up though, my dad and I restored his '72 Beetle together, our family went for bike rides, and we made the best of what we had! I don't regret any of it. If I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing. No personal possesion would ever be worth the times I had with my family

If I had the chance I would not change being an only child, but sometimes I look at my best friend and the bond he has with brother or my wife and her sister and I think I would have liked to have that. But given the choice I would not do it differently.

I will be the first to tell you I got away with murder. It took a real close brush with death to straighten me out, but I think I turned out ok
