Unregistered Vehicle...

So I just got my car out of storage and I was driving it home with a plate on it from one of my other cars. Its about a five min drive from where i had it put away to my house, and of course... at the one stoplight, the boys in blue are right behind me. Of course, since im a young guy, they run the plate and find out its not registered right. Twenty min later im sitting there with 2 tickets (invalid plate, unregistered vehicle) for a grand total of $460. This stuff doesnt count against insurance the same way that a speeding ticket does, does it?

well....its not going to help you any...thats for sure...It doesnt sound like a "moving violation" like speeding, reckless driving, etc...but it may show insurance companies that you are risky becuase of you driving a vehcle that is not legal...you would have been in serious trouble if you were in an accident while un registared and unplated...and no insurance!!

Now...I know you were just trying to get your car moved...but they might not see it that way...Bummer dude...that sucks.

Not sure how the law works in Candaland, but here in MO those kinds of tickets won't affect your insurance rates. They do not add any points on your license, just hurt your pocketbook a little. $460 sounds quite steep, but that is totally up to the courts.

if you had just driven it with no plate you'd only have one ticket.

I know. that was apparently a bad idea. But I think if i had no plate they wouldve impounded me. They let me drive it the block and a half to my house and just took the plate that was on it.

And I did have the car insured. If i had no insurance i woulda really been screwed. I think thats about a $2000 fine and then they definitely wouldve impounded me.
