I'm in the SE Pennsylvania region and we are expecting heavy rain with flood watches. From the radar, it looks like the storm will start in a few hours and rain ALL DAY! I even took off of work today to attend a car show at an airport, but to have it rescheduled for sometime in October (on my day off, luckily). Good luck to everyone down in the Carolinas. Hope things are okay for you all.

Oh man, last week was really bad. Not knowing where it would go. The worst part was trying to decide if I should go buy plywood to board up the windows.

Yeah. The blue line and the purple line intersect right about over my house. I'm hoping it goes to Mexico. My 69 year old father swears its going to Mexico just from the circumstances he's seen before.

I live in Victoria. Just inland from Port Lavaca and Port O'Connor. 90 miles north of Corpus Christi.
Well I got a 7800 watt generator today, 12 gallons of gas, filled all the cars up, and 15 gallons of water.
Tomorrow I get ice, milk, bread, peanut butter, batteries, etc. I'm s.o.l. on boarding windows. I've got like 44 windows in this fishbowl of a house. Otherwise we'll be fine. I am soing to make emergency plans to go to my wife's best friend iin Kerrville. I think Cat 3 or higher we'll go there. Cat 2 or less we just ride it out. Thanks for the offer Jimmy. But 400 miles on I-35 would really suck, I think I'd rather be without electricity than trapped on I35 with all the buses catching fire and the poor people running out of gas.

I know you guys down south will see more than we will here in St. Louis, but they are calling for 3-5" of rain from Friday to Monday... lots of flooding will happen here. Would not expect to have this much water from a hurricane this far inland. Gustove gave us 4-5".
Good luck to you Texas boys!

Well, I have found two awesome sites, courtesy of that wild place Fark.com (albeit for a previous cyclonic storm's thread.):
www.stormpulse.com
www.tropicwx.com
These two I'm hitting pretty frequently recently, as I was worried... and sure enough, wouldn't you know it, I'm being targeted now. Dang you Ike. Go play somewhere else.
/Doesn't wish it on anyone, but most of all, I wish it less upon me and mine.
//Que Sera and all that.

Yeah I'm sorry houtex, I guess I wished it so hard away from Victoria, I wished it your way. I don't know what is going to happen. Are you going to leave on I45 North. Did you attempt to leave for Rita?

No, none of my family is leaving. We're on the northwest side of the Houston metroplex... if anyone needs to move, it'd be me, I'm the closest to Houston itself... and it's still a bit away.
When Rita happened... it was stupid. A lot of wasted gas and time by a lot of people. Not that they didn't need to go, but the *planning* of it... good grief. Looks like it's better this time... we'll see. Looks like it's gonna be a directish hit this time... we'll see how it goes.
We rode through Alicia, and we were much closer than we are now... we just wound up with no power for about a week, and no water for about that time. Wasn't fun, but nobody got hurt, and no damage. We're kinda thinkin' maybe we'll be ok, but who knows? But we ain't leavin', we're not close enough to the bad parts, we hope.

We're to the south of you. I'm thinking of heading south or even west. Although we had a direct hit from a 100mph storm in Claudette about 5 years ago and nothing happened but a loss of power for about 2 days and general hysteria around town. I didn't have a generator that time, this time I am as prepar as I can be. I'm still dreading going outside and finding a place for all the lawn furnitre and loose items around the house. Way to much crap out there.

I have two friends in The Woodlands who will be riding it out. Some of my distant family was in Conroe, but they are up near Fort Worth now. Hopefully it won't make a Cat3 before landfall. Here's to wishing there is some cold water between Galveston and the eye.
