I was just wondering how long it takes to have a vehicle repaired at a body shop?
Let's say it has pretty substantial damage, fender/door/side/hood, a repairable non totalling collision damage, probably around 8-12K in damage.

How long "should" it take? Assume the body shop is not 'backed up'.

What's the longest anyone has had their car in the body shop getting a collision repair?

I'm guessing about 4 to 6 weeks, figuring a few weeks to order the parts and get them there, a week to do the actual work, swapping parts, etc, a week to paint, etc. Maybe add a week to tear apart the car and get a supplement from the insurance company if needed.

What do you think?

And yes, the Mustang is fine.

Look at the estimate, near the end there should be a breakdown of labor times for body/paint/frame/etc. Add them up, multiply by 1.5, then divide that number by 8. That's how many repair days it'll probably take. Add in the right number of days for weekends, and about 3 for parts, and you'll be really close to how long it'll be in there. If there's any hidden damage, it will take longer.
