Still some honest people out there

That's a pretty cool story. If I were the old guy I might give her the option of somehow compensating in order to keep it, like the original sticker price or something. I don't know, if he's got a 59 Ranchero that he's presumably had for quite some time, he might understand that she still has it after 37 years. That says she still wants it to me. I still think it was a stand-up thing to do on her part to try to make sure it was legal.
I certainly respect his right to get it back, and ultimately I think he needs to be satisfied above all else. I just think that her father bought it in good faith from what is presumably what her father thought was a reputable place. I'd be heartbroken to have someone take what I thought was my baby away from me after 37 years of driving it. Seems like the dealer (if it still exists 37 years later...) might have to refund somebody something.
