Speed cameras coming to Cali?
Speed cameras coming to Cali?
Bev Hills is leading the way for the push to use these cameras:

I would not worry about speed cameras, they are easily defeated with counter measures.
There are plate covers that you can put over the plates to hide the plate from the cameras, there are photo radar detectors that can detect them as well.
Photo cameras are one of the easiest things to foil and fight in court.

From: That town you drive through to get to Myrtle Beach
ive heard some cases where the cameras work too well, and people started to obey the law, and the local gov't decided that the cameras were a bad thing
but srsly, california needs to burn the old law books, and restart

I say again, any time state and local governments view safety as a revenue source (cameras, in order to be viable, RELY on people to break the law), safety inevitably takes a back seat. The amount of revenue these cameras generate in England is frightening. As with red light cameras, I wonder if data supports the fact that they don't make roads safer in the end result.
And remember, not to put doom and gloom into this, but automation is a slippery slope. Ultimately, the best and safest way to ensure that you drive safely and don't brake the law...is for you not to drive. How much would you enjoy a Mustang that you couldn't drive but just ride in. The technology for automated driving is not so far away, and is more limited by transportation infrastructure than the technology for automating the car itself. And even that is in development through testing of sensor location of magnetic studs in the road and several other technologies.

Mac , Va has conducted studies that show redlight cameras increasing the chance for an accident, people are more apt to brake hard when they know a redlight camera is in operation and if the person behind is following to close the results are obvious.
That aside, redlight cameras in and of themselves aren't to bad an idea, but in alot of cases the camera manufacturers (I guess these systems are rented or are on loan) the timing of the lights are adjusted in order to increase the number of violations in an effort to maintain or generate high levels of revenue.

lol a good friend of mine is with the Crime Unit can't say where etc but I knoe use rubber grommets in my lic plate bolts , what happens is that the plate slightly shimmers enough as it would come out as a blur, I tried a plate cover but depending on your motor vehicle act, you could get a ticket for impeeding the dumb F k's vision.
