So my brother's insurance lapsed..
And he is freaking out
he paid his insurance, received a confirmation # but the system didn't take it (or so he finds out a month later). He calls in to pay his insurance the next month and they tell him his policy is cancelled. He gave them the previous month's confirmation # and they said sorry, we can't help you. So much for Allstate.
He already has new insurance and a great rate but now they're asking for proof of his previous month's proof of insurance.
Anyone know how long it takes for his rates to return to 'normal' so hes no longer a high risk policy holder?

If it were me, I'd be talking to one of my lawyer friends to get some satisfaction out of the previous ins. company. If he truly paid it as you say, then it's their fault, and they should be handling the consequences.
Depending on what state hes in, he also needs to check with the DMV or county tag office. Here if your insurance lapses, they suspend the tag on your car, and it can take a while before you get the notice. If that's the case, hes subject to get a trip to jail if he gets pulled over.
Always find it funny lawyers seem to be generally more expensive than just biting the bullet.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
