Shock & Awe
Well, I turned in my 2 week notice yesterday after finding a new job that I hope turns out as well as I think it will.
I've been with one company for a long time...this coming July would have made 10 years. After declining the counter offer, the management was.."Get out." They gave me some time to pack up my cube and say good bye to my coworkers and then I'm escorted out the front door.
I kinda expected it, since going to work for a competitor it is sorta the policy of the company, but man...after nearly 10 years of steady employment with them...to get shoo'd out like that was still kinda shocking.

Pretty chicken++++ of your old company if you ask me. I would never critize someone trying to better themselves. Maybe they ought to look into the reasons you are leaving with an exit interview rather than showing you the door.

Ouch. That happened to my favorite office manager ever back in December- she got pissed off at the boss(hes kind of hard to work with), found a job at a competitor- turned in her notice and was promptly told that day was her last one.
I hope your new job ENTIRELY makes up for all you went through!

Man sorry to hear thats how they treated ya. I see that alot here when they let people go (due to we've had code stolen before and ended up at a competitor). I can understand why they didnt want you to work your 2week out at that point, but still they could have been gracious about it.
They didnt fire you or anything did they?

No...wasn't fired. Left on my own accord. Was bored of the work and didn't like the nonsense upper management was doing. No more career movement that didn't involved moving to Atlanta, which is something the family doesn't want to do.
I certainly hope the new job makes up for it. I guess that's why I quit...hoping that's the case. At least the pitch they gave me did.

Well, here's to new beginnings.
I can understand them escorting you out like that. You are going to a competitior. Any info you take with you is info you can use against them.
Hope the new job works out better.
