Satellite TV Owners - Need opinions
Anyone have either DirecTV or Dish Network in thier home?
Im looking to get either preferably this week. Im not getting all of the sports, movies or anything like that. I want the basic and expanded programming (as long as it has SPEED for me and Animal Planet and FOOD for the wife) Im good.
I'll have 3 receivers, one being HD for my widescreen, the other 2 being standard. I'll add my own DVR/TIVO later down the road.
The 2 packages I am looking at are pretty much the same as far as programming, but DirecTV shows that my local channels are broadcast in HD and Dish doesnt show that at all. I want as many HD features as possible.
Also the directv package will be $5 cheaper after all the rebates and credits kick off.....
Any experiences or thoughts are more than welcome.
If you have other options, lemme know. Btw, I cant get cable or else I wouldnt even be posting this thread
Thanks
Scott

You will give me one? Who would I have to kill?
Also I just noticed on Dish Network, I'd get all the same HD channels as Direc, but a whole lot more as well. I mean some I probably wouldnt watch, but there are some cool ones that I dont see listed anywhere on DirecTV.

No strings. My TiVo got dirty, I thought it was broke, I bought a DirecTv DVR. Cleaned out the TiVo, and being as I am addicted to TiVo, I went back to it immediately when I found out it was working again.
The DVR was used for about 3 days, and then thrown in the closet to collect dust. Its yours should you want it.

I had Dish for several years until they tried to jack me around about re-aiming my dish after Hurricane Rita. I decided to give DirecTV a try but it turns out their "free installation" actually costs $50. I told them to take a flying...well you know. I ended with Time Warner digital cable and couldn't be happier. Since I already had Road Runner, I got the cable at a discount and it turned out to be cheaper than either Dish or DirecTV.

Btw, I used to work for Charter, was laid off due to outsourcing..... sadly enough, I would choose them over satellite anyday (especially since I could get internet through cable). I really wish I was in a brighthouse area.
April, my choice got harder. Angela's mother has a Dish Network DVR not being used and I can get it if I want.
