San Diego Fire
Good luck to anyone down here that is faced with evacuation, if anyone needs anything let me know, although I dont know how long I will be able to stay myself. Got the call at 6am to prepare for evacuation and so Im packed and car loaded and just waiting now, hopefully things can start to get under control but the winds are picking up and spreading this fast and creating the inability to get air assistance so things are looking grim.
In the mean time here are some pics Ive snapped over the past 3 hours or so:
around 8am...I think:

about an hour ago (9am):

and just now, this is across the street:

Good luck everyone, stay safe!

Hope all is okay with you. Know the feeling. Live near the fire in Orange (although not as close as it looks like you are to that fire).
Be safe and take care of yourself and your family. The house and belongings can be replaced - you cant.
Not sure what it would be, but if there is anything I can do to help let me know.

Thank you. You take care yourself, I havent been able to keep up to date on the OC and LA fires but I know its effecting a lot of people up there as well. They showed a satalite photo from space earlier and the entire cali coast is on fire from LA on into Baja....crazy.
Im very tired, didnt think the fire would spread that fast and was up late, then when I finally fell asleep my mom called saying she could see the flames from her bedroom window, which was apparently the new fire just out my backdoor, got the call at 6am like I said and Ive been just being vigilant since, my roommate left to her parents.
The slight good news for me is that the fire nearest to me has the slowest windspeeds....20mph...good grief. It seems they finally got a copter in the air, but who knows if they can get low enough to drop. Bad news is Im only about 5 minutes from the beach and if its coming straight this way, so after a while myself as well as everyone else will run out of land.

just got back from helping my friend and got a call as I walked in asking for all cbad residents south of palomar airport rd to voluntarily evacuate
my friend lives in olivenhein on the edge of RSF and on my way in there there was a huge exodus of classic, vintage and exotic cars. if those cars are a concerned get them out now while it is somewhat mellow just in case, although when I was leaving olivenhein I noticed all the cops were gone except 2 who were not letting anyone back into that area at all, no one going into RSF, it is complete grey smoke, ashes and the smell burns when you breathe in. And it is HOT! You can feel the fire although you can not see it.

the mandatory evac for coronado valley (where the fire is) and san elijo hills has been lifted, 50% contained with 100% controllability and should be 100% contained within the next day or two
WOOHOO!!!! Hopefully they will be able to soon use those resources to fight off the other ones, my friends place in Olivenhein is still holding strong, we emptied their stuff, and cut back brush earlier today and hosed down the roof, RSF is on fire but so far he cant see it, I hope they hold it back from spreading any further (my moms, sisters, and gfs places are all just west and next on the list if they dont), but he will call me the moment he sees fire and we will go into action.

**** Olivenhein and Encinitas are now threatened again as the fire burns through cielo up towards the bridges, my friend is ready to leave his place and my moms place is on the outskirts of Enc overlooking that mess.
No updates from you in a while, hopefully that only means you were able to get some sleep. I hope you, your family and friends are safe. I'm watching coverage right now and unfortunately it doesn't look any better yet.
yeah I was up real late but did manage to get a little sleep, looks like my place is gonna be in the clear....for now. concern moves back to my parents, gf, sisters and friends place which are all in the path of the fire in RSF and very near it, but so far they are ok still as well. fire just to the south of them has moved to the coast now, just off the I-5 in Del Mar on Del Mar Heights Rd. and in RSF on Via De La Valle.

thank you very much, Ill keep posting here on major updates, the local forums have been real helpful in getting info to one another and keeping everyone safe, much more accurate and helpful than actual news.
I really hope it all gets better! Good luck!
dealt with the smoke by staying inside mostly, I only walked outside to check things out and to go to friends and family homes to help out but drove there with windows up....situation is much much much better....thank you everyone for the concern.
My area has been in the clear since earlier today, I had to take a break today so I took off to get some dinner and travel around to see what things were like in the areas I was concerned with because of fam and friends....I just got back home, here are the updates as I know them. Olivenhein, Encinitas evac has been lifted at 7 (although I was able to drive around all throughout there all day today) and people are allowed home only if you have proper ID because they do now have National Guards setup baracading the entry roads. Del Mar has also been lifted and people are allowed to go home. Huge flames can not be found anywhere from the Witch (in the W. North County area) or Fallbrook fires at the time but officials are still concerned to make sure it doesnt start back up over night. Wind has moved back the other direction heading toward the Julian area and that fire is moving back the way it initially came. The witch fire is being contained around the hodges area and so far is under control. So as long as the winds dont pick up or turn around again they should be able to control it through the night and have full containment in a day or two. I can speak to the Encinitas/Olivenhein area as the skies being MUCH better, air is breathable now (not perfect but MUCH MUCH better) and clear skies overhead. Same goes for the Cbad and San Marcos/Vista areas.
The only fire that is still a MAJOR concern in the county is the Harris fire near the border, that one is the only one not under control with very minimal containment. The other fires are still going but have good containment and should be controlled unless something bad happens, but authorities are prepared for the winds to change and will act to combat them if they do to keep the containment high.
Thoughts go out to those that didnt make it unscathed, best wishes to those people and to those who are still in harms way.
