RIP Neil Armstrong
RIP Neil - you and NASA were such an inspiration during my younger years. And still are!
The Mercury/Gemini/Apollo space program plays a large part (along with other influences) in why I chose to find and live in a rural area on my own semi-moon base.

Good job NBC.... Young is still here, rocking in the free world.

If you are ever in Florida, take a day to go to Kennedy Space Center. It has a really great Apollo building. It's amazing how small the lunar lander was, and how huge the atlas was. Those men were incredibly brave.
And so passes an inspiration for us all, as are all the Astronauts and the people who support them in their missions, past and present. Would that the world would come together again like it did in July 1969.
Godspeed Commander Armstrong.

He was one of the truly great men in human history. He, Aldrin, Collins, and all the other Apollo astronauts, and everyone else involved in the Space Race truly had "The Right Stuff"
Goodbye Mr. Armstrong.
Goodbye Mr. Armstrong.
I was 16 and on a camping trip at Sebago Lake State park in Maine when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon. One of the families at the park had a small black and white portable televison and a generator to power it. There was quite a crowd around their campsite, and when Armstrong stated "that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" the crowd applauded and hoisted their favorite beverage in honor of the event.
Rest easy, Commander... you were a pioneer of the final frontier.

Yeah...pretty sure the soviets would have disagreed with you. Angrily.
Armstrong and his kind are and will be missed.
Naw, all you gotta say is F' it and hit the go button. As long as you can envision a reasonable chance of success you can do some crazy stuff.
Just think of anytime you've done a bonsai run in your car and pegged the speed limiter (or the tach if you've cut the limiter off - or just run into the aero wall). A tire failure or a suspension failure or a brake failure and its game over unless you get pretty lucky or your pretty skilled or a combination of both - but you do it because you perceive the chance of failure as pretty low.

I must admit, it's vague enough I have more than one idea what is meant by this. Perhaps you'll enlighten. Lil' snarky for this thread, but whatevs.
