We're still in the $4.20+ range... guess the stations are trying to make back the margin from slightly reduced demand.

My question would be is there a refinery on the islands, because if not you are paying for transportation costs of gasoline from mainland. If there is then I'd say your demand has not decreased on your secluded islands. If no to that, then I would agree with your statement.

I do, like the old cliche goes: been there, done that. I would go as far as to claim I am an expert on the subject.

If you have any doubt on the subject look up two of Obama's favorite terms "economic and social justice", their origin, their implementation, and where they were implemented. In simple terms, 99.99% of everything and anything becomes part of the state. The remaining .01% boils down to one's dirty underwears.

In theory socialism is Disney World during their off peak season, in reality it is Disney World in the middle of the summer on 1/2 mile long waiting lines.

Well, George, I don't know where you're from originally, but there are varying degrees and types of socialism. Canada, for example, has adopted a hybrid model of capitalism AND elements of socialism; our architects realizing early on that NO one system is perfect. It's flexible and it works very well for us. I wouldn't trade it for any other system.

Turning from oil to health care, for example. Canada's health care system, while admittedly not perfect, is the reason why "American-made" vehicles from Ford and GM can be built for less money in Canada than in the United States. And American owned companies are quite happy to take advantage of it. America is the only one of the G8 nations left that doesn't have some sort of universal health care system.

Personally, I am of the belief that all VITAL and CRITICAL services should be managed by government; that is its role, after all: transportation infrastructure, product safety and health services, defense and intelligence - to cite but a few examples - can all be considered matters of national security.

I am fully aware of the fact. Given Obama's background, history, beliefs, and hints (or slips of the tongue) I am pretty sure he is not interested moderate degree or version of socialism.

Given my experience with socialists values, I would not trade the system of the USA either.

Yes, but at what expense? And this is not a monetary reference but one to the degree of its quality as opposed to the main problem with our health care system which is the costs which is greatly if not directly attributed to cost of malpractice insurance.

It's actually because there is profit in people being sick if you are Big Pharma. Healthy people don't need to go to the doctor so often, do they? There's no profit in healthy people if you're an HMO or a drug company. Think about it.

The food and drug industries are in collusion: fatten people up with salty, high cholesterol foods from junk food outlets across the country. As the obesity problem intensifies and they get sick, force them to become addicted to anti-cholesterol medications (you've all seen the ads). Or my personal favorite: the big guy downing the jumbo chili dog as his wife and daughter run towards him in horror fearing another attack of heartburn. "But it's OK, go ahead and eat that chili dog, Bob, because you can take prescription strength Zamfir which will coat your stomach with bio-nanotic pro-microbiotic coatings to allow you to eat as much of that crap as you want!"

Just remember to read the fine print at the bottom >>

Zamfir may cause convulsions, diabetes, heart attacks, roids, spontaneous **** eruptions, diarrhea, elephantiasis, and should not be taken by people with high blood pressure, low blood pressure, or by people over six feet tall, or under six feet tall. Those allergic to annoying flute music should only expose themselves to Zamfir after consulting with their physician...or someone with no musical taste.

I am glad you brought up that point. Ask and you shall receive, not to you but the patrons you mention.

People demand the freedom to make personal choices fully aware of consequences but of course, someone else has to be responsible for their mistakes in whichever category. What Obama is endorsing and promoting in exchange for votes is rewarding lack of responsibility and accountability.

Many of our citizens cannot go beyond saying merci beaucoup but they are very well informed when it comes to what their bodies absorb, whether it is junk food, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or anything else.

You mean, McDonalds for dinner, Dunkin Donuts for desert, followed by a visit to 7-Eleven for some Twinkies and a 65 ounce soda pop?

It's all about freedom of choice.

Democracy: conquering the world, one coronary at a time.

The socialism slogan: Confiscating one private sector at a time.
