Wouldn’t it be great if life went in reverse?
Crawling up from the ground
Riding in the hearse-

Hop a ride to the funeral home
With family and friends
This is where your life starts
Not where it ends

Your family is crying
Your body is lying
In a casket-
You’re about to awaken

They cry not for death
But weep for your soul
They know what’s ahead of you
Your life, a black hole

The embalmer restores
The life giving blood
And drains from your veins
The sludge, bugs, and mud

As weeks pass you by
You feel stronger and bolder
It’s because you are young-
Not getting any older

Weeks turn into years
And soon the day comes
Your children must die
Your wife’s body numbs

The kids are so small
Innocent, free of sin
The doctor assists her
To push them back in

You’ve begun your new job
You know just what to do
No training or schooling
It’s just like you knew-

What to do all along
The days seem so long
As you go back to high school

Soon you become innocent
Free of sin
Your children are dead
There’s no next of kin

And then the day comes
A newborn, you are
Your life is now over
You’ve come from afar

So wouldn’t it be great
To live in reverse?
Your life was a blessing
Or was it a curse?
