green day? linkin park? Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Hoobastank, Maroon 5?

what are you guys trying to do to the poor guy? we want him to listen to music, not make him hate it

Well he asked for alternative rock and alternative rock is a relatively new genre, so groups like Zeppelin, Clapton, CCR, Doors...these are all great Classic Rock bands, I was recommending music of today's age, alternative rock. I also realize that age has a lot to do with the selection of music and differing tastes of the users on this forum, so before you critize the likes and dislikes of mere recommendations, try not to date yourself with your own negative input... well put

Get some new stuff like Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Hoobastank, Maroon 5. I think you would be most impressed with Yellowcard or Maroon 5. Yellowcards sound is like no other with a violin soloist in every tune, but still rocks out. And Maroon 5, I can listen to their entire CD over and over again. Great CD!
Quite a good list...I have almost all of these in my stereo...along with Linkin Park and Nickelback. Both of the Good Charlotte CD's are good...their first one is pretty funny though (check out "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and "The Anthem"). And just for kicks, I'll throw out Weezer's first album (aka the Blue album). I love that CD.

If you want to go old school, and you like the guitar heavy stuff, check out Boston's Greatest Hits. Great stuff...

Yes, Weezer's Blue Album is a must...
Look for Bree Sharp's A Cheap and Evil Girl (kinda old and obscure, but a great album, has some great driving songs)
Lucky Boy's Confusion's album "Commitment" (great for road trips)

Also, if you like alternative, try some punk...

Three.
I hate both those songs.

For the record, I listen to them and throw my money away on them too.......Ethel and Lucy are my best radio friends

Yikes! my bad
<----- this means just kidding lol. now i know how Dr. Iven feels

i'm 21, so i know what's up, err i mean down, uhh whatever lol

so, here are my "alternative" choices for ya, Badandy. Most of these are known as indipendent/indie bands, because they are not signed with a large record company. Hence more freedom to do what they want, and not worrying whether they sell or not, which is what i like about them. listen and see if you likes
Click and Experience lol

1. The French Kicks
2. The Walkmen
3. The Rapture
4. The Bravery
5. The Dears
6. The Arcade Fire
7. Spoon
8. Interpol
9. The Strokes
10. The Natural History

all of them have sound samples in their sites, just gotta search a little to find

hmm, try some Ska too...

The Mighty Mighty Bostones
They Might Be Giants
The Aqua Bats (kinda of on the fence between Ska and Punk, but aren't they all?)

Basically, its like Punk Jazz...

And I recommend listening to my fav station... WONC 89.1 (Listen on your computer)

(Hey, Lalo, I'm 21 too. And its 'sideways' now )
