True story:

I moved to Perry County for 20 months once, lured by their cheap land and cheap mansions..........

A hillbilly ventures out of the woods when my hubby and me and parents are clearing trees(we bought a neglected 40 acre parcel) He wants the wood Daddy is cutting.....

I was talking to my Dad........

Hillbilly approaches my Dad:

Your Daughter suuuuuuuure got a purty voice........(que redneck voice)

 

Oh stop......., you're making my sides hurt.

 

At the time we still had the bronco.....

We used to go out on the logging roads and tear around in the mud, we had a redneck moment or 3.

Hillbilly lived off down a logging road.........Old trailer with a tarp on the roof.....Hundreds of wrecked cars in the yard...

AND this I kid you not!!!!!!!

HE LIVED WITH HIS SISTER AND THEIR BABY (yes their) in that trailer..

Another true story, there were another pocket of hillbillies down same logging road. Lived in an old log shack with a cow tied in the yard.

Older son- child molesting pervert........He knocked up his 14 year old girlfriend(he was 22) and they got married. I found it repulsive...The hillbillies thougt it was great. Did I mention they were cousins?

Younger son was 16. He took a liking to my daughter who was 9 at the time. He used to hide in the woods and watch her like some creepy pervert.
We caught him one time. We had a HUGE black lab named Duke at the time, who was very protective of my kids....Hubby comes out on our porch shotgun in hand, I come out holding my snarling dog by the collar, We never saw the kid around our house again.
I hightailed it out of there and moved back to good ole Shelby County, and I will never leave again!!

 

Crazy stuff. I'm going to research for a long time to decide where my retirement place will be.

 

Yea- when my hubby got out of the navy we decided Orlando was THE place. Uh-uh......Off to Charlotte we went, Perfect but pay blew there. We moved back to Alabammy so our kids had close grandparents......its been quite good to us...

Ps- being an Aegis Tech(uss ramage) in the navy translates into roughly a TV repairman in the real world....Needless he did jack with his 2 years of training.

We did one better- VCR's are so 80s- and my TiVo is automatic.

 

My DVD player doesnt have a clock, and we just have normal satelite, No TiVo which doesnt bother me because the guide loads S-L-O-W on TiVo

I get the startled daily by stupid 18 wheelers honking their horn at me when I'm in Sunny with the top down on interstate. AND yes lots of redneck pervs in my neck of the wood too that yell some lovely *sarcastic mode off* comments.
