When I was growing up, I had to listen to my mom and dads station: 103.7 KVIL. They played "60s, 70s and today(80s)" I'm 22 now, and I STILL listen to KVIL. They play "80s, 90s and today" heck, they still had their old djs, until just recently! All the other stations that I listen to, and all the younger kiddos listen to, didnt exist back then. That majority of them never lasted longer than 2 years anyway. I couldnt surf the airwaves because cars had dials, and that meant Id have to know how to operate and guess where a station was, and have it dialed just so, and if you touched it... :bang:

Wanna know what I think is sick? Kids Bop! Or atleast, the first disk. You see, me, in the single digit age... ...I'm listening to my parents music... ...so these are songs I grew up with. ...well, the first of that series was nothing but 80ish songs! Theyre listening to songs I grew up with!

As for skating rinks, I only went during the saturday mornings. It was 1990 when the inline started being introduced, and I didnt even successfuly learn until the mid 90s. Todays skating rink stinks! They play Now Thats What I Call Music songs on winamp (whats the point of a DJ?) They dont even do weird stuff. Every minute is "all skate" They dont do Limbo, cuz someone could get hurt. They dont do that funky dice sitting game, cuz then you would feel left out when your number wasnt called. And at the majority of the rinks I went to, whenever they played ghostbusters, and the word "ghostbusters" was said, you had to turn around and skate the opposite direction. They cant do that anymore cuz its dangerous and "ghostbusters" is too out of date.

 

I loved the skating rink! We would go on Friday nights, stay all night long. REO Speedwagon "I'm Gonna Keep on Loving You" always reminds me of "couples' skate". Guess that would be banned now as well, wouldn't want the wall-flowers to be left out.

Niki, what skating rink did you go to? We always went to White Rock Skate on Northwest Hwy. Had all the good stuff; limbo, hokey-pokey, speed skate, couples skate, races and on Halloween everyone would bring as much toilet paper as you could carry and they would hang toilet seats from the ceiling and around 10:30-11pm they'd start the mummy contest. You and your teammates would wrap somebody up and the best mummy won a free party for you and 20 of your friends.

 

Skating Rink Quickly replaced by the 14-18 only teen clubs...Mine was called Sneakers, and it was FUN!
Course, then I turned 16 and just blew all my money cruising around listening to music.
Warrant, Winger, Guns N Roses, Poison, D- Yankees, Clapton, Stevie Ray Oh yea..........And I still listen to them.

Side note- the day Stevie Ray Vaughn got killed- I was skipping school. They said it was Clapton in that plane and I was crushed. I still adore clapton, have my whole life.

dang I'm only 41 and feel like a senior , but in about a week the GT will be here and I'll be a kid again.

 

WE had roller skating rinks which was loads of fun same music , In your Letter REO and even what was MTV's first tune again Trio ? Da Da Da ? or that was the 2nd they ever did. ps the LT's Couffer asked if I got it yet ? There is hope !

 

Anyone ever play laser tag when they were kids?

My two kids, us and our friends got together last night and went to Q-zar to play.

Its black lit, and you have two teams of 20 people each playing. SOOOOOOO much fun! It was a blast!!

Of course till our friend decided it would be fun to hunt his fiancee and me down and hold us down and kill us. He got his though.

 

i love laser tag! one of the greatest sports ever (behind football, of course)

did the place you go to have mirrors n stuff? oh man its crazy.

naw, it had walls and tires and black lights. VERY fun, it just opened recently. The object is to capture the other teams headquarters without getting killed.
at $7.50 a pop for 20 minutes, a bit pricey though.

All they managed to do in there was shoot each other up, screwing their team because everytime you hit your own team you lose 200 points)

Us females beat the crud out of the men and children though. We were red, they were green.

Then my stupid machine gun jammed, and I ran out of smart bombs....Auto fire is superfun.
I wish they still sold laser tag games in stores!

I absolutely lazer tag! not as much as paintball but its still pretty fun I remember the last time I played I fell down the stairs leading off one of the platforms and meshed my leg up pretty bad, I could barely walk for three of four days....and you know what? I survived without suing them

I have discovered my girlfriend and daughter and I always play on the red team against the two men and the boy....Seems the frigging red guns tend to jam on us.
We just played again last Friday night.

 

The next generation ? My son was asking if I ever bought a Mustang and I were to croak could I leave it to him and hes 8 years old , came up with this on his own gees I never wanted my dad's 54 Ford my Bro got it and put a 392 Crysler Hemi in it Boy did it howl !

 

I am trying to give my kids my childhood.

They love the outdoors!

My husband calls me his third child, because you can normally find me right out there with them enjoying life.

I get to be the FUN mom.

I definately agree with you burningman! I am a product of 73 and did everything you described and more. I am raising my 4 children ages from 3-10 years old the same way my parents raised me. Good ol values and courtesy. I hope my kids carry on the traditions and values I am instilling in them to their children. Take responsibility, give respect, account for all actions, and take the hard right over the easy wrong. And definately above all else take care of your STANG!!!

 

I am absolutely proud of my children. They are being raised all properly.
Yes, they have had some bumps and bruises from playing like little heathens, and both have had stitches by age 9.......But they are happy and healthy and very well adjusted.

Their friends........Whole nother story. beasts and demon children.

Hey and my daughter even cut off the tip of her finger and had to have it sewn back on at a community center- exhaust fan not covered and caught her. Did we sue? noooooooo.
