People over 35 should be dead. Here's why:

According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, or even maybe the early 70's probably shouldn't have survived.
Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets, ... and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. (Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.)
As children, we would ride in cars with no seatbelts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors!
We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes.
After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. NO CELL PHONES!!!!! U n t h i n k a b l e !
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, DVD's, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms.
We had friends!
We went outside and found them.
We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt.
We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents?
We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it.
We made up games with sticks and tennis ***** and ate worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside us forever.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment!
Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and were held back to repeat the same grade. Horrors!
Tests were not adjusted for any reason. Our actions were our own. Consequences were expected.
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law.
Imagine that!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever.
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
Congratulations...so far...so good!
Please pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good !!!!!

this is bloody true!

AHHHH!!!! Yes those were the days when it was fun to grow up.

And thousands of years ago 35 was considered old age and no teeth.

Yes, the 60s. The era of innocence, principles, courting, and loyalty. All good things must come to an end.

From a child of the 80s, I must say this... ...this list pokes fun at everything that exists today... ...if growing up the old way was correct (and I kinda believe it is) then purhaps the children of the 40s-70s who have children now should raise them just so.

The things listed are mostly things that occured in the mid 90s to today... ...though the majority of my childhood was spent being raised the same way thats listed... ...I experienced this sudden change and have to ask why. Why does an 8 year old need a cell phone pocket on his jeans? Why did my brother recieve a cell phone when he was 11? He doesnt go anywhere by himself, where would he go at that age? Why to we adjust multiple choice test to be 50/50 questions? Why is it so hard for underweight people to find junk food that ISNT low carb?

My parents were born in the 40s and 50s, me and my brother were 80s and 90s... ...so it doesnt matter what decade you came from... ...if you dont, others your age probally have kids that they raise completely different from the way they grew up. ...so why?

And since we're on the subject... ...do you believe that such changes is causing reverse darwinism?

Thanks Doug! I remember how I used to have a wreck on my bike almost daily, and developed the nickname 'crash'. My parents never got upset at anyone else or sued anyone over it. I was usually doing something dumb, like kids do, and learned from my mistakes. Now, its a different world. The neighbors would call the police if your kid didn't have a helmet on!

I'd blame the shoe industry... ...all my bike related crashes were caused by having my shoe lace get stuck in the chain/gear. Thats very dangerous! Usually I caught it intime before I fell... ...but that meant that IN THE STREET I had to stop where I was, get on the ground, and try to get my shoe lace untangled.

I did it ALL: and lived:

I used to go THREE wheeling ALONE in the middle of the forest and lived to tell.

Today......I won't let the kids go around the block without me.

My folks would let me play outside by myself (no parental supervision when I was 6)... ...When I was 8, it wasnt rare to have me explore a forest where by myself. And we're talking about a forest that usta be a battle ground with existing trenches, and wolves... ...Oh, and there probally were "no hunting" signs out there for a reason.

I dont believe that when my brother was that age, he was allowed to do any of this stuff by himself... ...and if I ever have kids, I dont think I'd let them either. Although I probally should... ...I managed to survive without a scratch.
