I saw the shift light and reflexively hit 6th (I almost never use fifth in my car) and that killed my acceleration, had I hit 5th it would have still climbed a little more.

Its to bad Ford only gave the 07-09 GT500s a 160mph speedo, as I understand it, bone stock with no speed limiter they will go 180+
I wanna go that fast one day lol like Ricky Bobby

Yep, it didn't take long to get there but man I was eating up road like crazy as well.

Sigh... I really wish we had something like the autobahn. The time you could save going on a trip even doing 120 mph would be flat out awesome.

Easier for your car to run 160 than my car, I think the Cd is .38 (or is that .038???) for my car so really going that fast is an exercise in brute force, much more so than the SN95/Newedge cars or the Fox cars.

I was also surprised to find out that weight does have an effect on your top speed as well ---> not just because they are heavier overall, but heavier cars increase friction with the road surface so what otherwise would be used for overcoming aerodynamic drag must be used to overcome increased rolling resistance (however slight it may be).

My worse ticket.. or should i say tickets..
95 GT
winter of 96 in the middle of a snow storm. 4+" already on the ground roads not plowed yet..
my ex-wife just got home from our Buisness, she was looking for the checkbook, after searching allover looking for i she said " I think i might have dropped the checkbook in the snow at the shop"..
so we left the house.. the shop was 2 miles down the road..
backed out of my driveway and a cop pulled up behind us..
got to the stop light (red) and put on my blinker to turn left..
light turned green, proceeded to go..

back end slightly swung out around the turn.. and proceeded down the road.. unable to make out any of the lanes (snow covered and unplowed) i stayed close to the middle of the 2 lanes on my side of the road (4 lane road) and no other cars, and proceeded at about 20-25mph, i got about 1/2 a mile down the road and see flashing lights in my mirror..

i pull over and say to my wife you have to be f'n kidding me.. i'm going to lace into this a**hole..she advised me to keep calm and quiet..

as soon as the cop gets to my window.. she starts barraging him with insults for about 2 minutes..
i'll refrain from the full list of explatives but it was quite ammusing, after finally calming her down the officer asked me for my license and reg.. which i already had ready.. and she verbally assaulted him again.. for another 30 sec or so..

after a few minutes of just sitting there.. 3 more police officers decide to show up..

one of them approaches the car on the pass. side and asks to see my ex's license..
she proceeds to tell that cop off as well.. and she advises them there is no reason for her to show them anything, after another minute of verbal abuse.. the cop tried openeing the door to get my ex out of the car (which was locked).. at that point the desk seagent showed up.. remember this is in the middle of a snow storm.. the seargent asked me politly to get her under control.. which i prompty did .. this entire incident lasted about 30 min

after all this.. the original cop comes to my window with a STACK of tickets..
Ticket #1 Putnam Ave
1 window tinting too dark
2 failure to use turn signal
3 jack rabbit start
4 reckless driving

Ticket #2 Whitney Ave.
1 unsafe start
2 failure to use turn signal
3 unsafe lane change
4 reckless driving

Ticket #3 (cont.)
1 failure to stay in a lane (snow covered roads where are the lanes?)
2 driving to fast for conditions (20 mph?)
3 failure to yeild ( to who?)
4 failure to have head lights on (10pm at night (yes they were on covered in snow))

Tickets #4,#5, #6, #7, #8 are just a blurr.. i honestly dont remember evertyhing that was listed..

Total was $1673 in fines..

total that check book that was eventually found in the snow at the shop.. $18.36

after pulling some "strings" (ie.. phone calls to some family and friends) with the local courts all charges were dropped (never even had to show up), and court ordered the police dept to issue a full appology to me and my ex.

my best friend got a ticket in VA for going 14 over...they charged her with reckless driving! What a crock of crap! She lives in NH, and when she called the VA courts, they told her that she has no choice but to show up on the court date, even if she's not asking for leniency, and threatened her with possible jail time!

I'm sorry, but have these VA legislators never driven in Richmond? unless traffic is stopped, everyone and their 90 year-old grandma drives 15+ over.

To top it off, she was told that she was "an endangerment to the state of Virginia" - This is defnitely one of the most bogus things I've ever heard. I had two tickets of 14 over here in SC and I got a grand total of 2 points and $150 in fines when all was said and done.

Theres a stretch of road I drive on almost every day on my way home from work. Its probably a mile long, mostly straight with a right hand bend at the end. It's got some random industrial complexes on one side and an old gravel quarry on the other and for some reason a 25 mph speed limit from back when the quarry was still operational I think. Anyway, it's also a road I drive cars from the lot I work at on a lot because it's the closest way to an eastbound freeway on ramp. One day bout three years ago I had only been working there a couple months and was still pretty amazed at the sort of cars I got to drive from time to time and I was in a Porsche 911 carerra 4S and my coworker was in an 01 Camaro that was full bolts ons tune gears etc from the previous owner and we were going way way faster than we should've been. So we're flying down the road and as we start to slow down for the right hand bend at the end there's a cop car parked out infront of one of the industrial buildings and I see the officer just walking out of the building back to his car staring at us all angry like as we pass. Luckily we got on to the freeway in a hurry and never saw him again but ever since then I've learned to grin and bear it and do like 30 mph on that road and I've seen cops waiting there at the bend several times since.

Yep. A couple years ago they made it up to the officers discretion on whether or not its recklass

Not to mention reckless driving now carries and heavier fine and possibly more jail time then a DUI

Passed a FHP on the Turnpike once. I was on my motorcycle tucked down just cruising (using that word very loosely). I knew I was moving but when I passed him I looked at the speedo and was going 120, he never moved but I sure slowed down! Luck was on my side that day in more ways than one.

I'm certainly hoping she can get something done about this. That's such a BS thing. Any advice that I should pass along about VA traffic court?

Hard to say. The judge will side with the cop, but depending on her record, her demenor, and the judge it will proabably get reduced. Most judges here won't drop it, but they may drop the reckless and just get her for speeding.

That cop must have been having a really ****ty day that day though.
