Question Opinions on getting a 240Z.....I am getting desperate.

I am really really itching to get out of my 99 Honda Civic sedan (boring)and into a Datsun 240Z. There is a beautiful one in Tampa that has been waiting for me for about a year. Its a 1971 240z, 4spd, that grey color, with 72000 miles(probably 172,000). Its a very very clean car....and the price is 6,500.

But my mother continues to make the "You can get it when you graduate college argument".....Suck. As a avid car enthusiast my bordom with my trusty Civic is killing me. I am rational and left the car stock...no rims or flashy graphics. The auto transmission is starting to really drive me nuts, I want a manual really bad!!!

I understand the reliability argument against the 240Z and the safety stuff....but man I just want that car.

My car is worth about 4,500, and I plan on getting a summer job to save up some money. I want to meet with my bank to see if they would do a Car Loan. Hopeful they allow me to pay it of in 3 or 4 years but in not sure.

Do you guys feel my pain? Any opinions?

On a car that old, I highly doubt they will give you a loan, let alone one for any significant length of time. It never hurts to ask though.

We have a 240Z for sale locally with a 350 chevy in it for $7,500. Coworker went to look at it, if I remember right, the interior was in perfect shape too.

I was going to mention that. There are SO FREAKING MANY of them here.

Is the car at least in good condition? $6500 seems like so much for a Z
