The dog was killed because it was not kept on the owners property. This would be less of a story if the guy down the street shot the dog. Bring up the guys faith for no reason is low born. This is open and shut. If the owner really loved the dog so much he would of chained the dog or had a proper fence to keep the dog in his yard.

Attacking others that have done no wrong other then bring up fact shows ones true colors.
