My Cobalt lives no more

Well I just wanted to let everyone know that my winter car & driver to work lives no more.

I was coming up to the intersection at 111th Ave & 149th street heading westbound in the curb lane. The signal advance had just changed from yellow and the light changed to green. The intersection was clear and I was already doing 40 KM/H so I starting accelerating. The guy in the white pickup decided he wanted to turn in front of me.

I have never been in an accident like this before in my life. I am still shook up from it. The pickup slid into a guy sitting on a motorbike at the stop line for the left turn lane. Luckily he was able to jump from his bike and only the front tire got very slightly bent, but still ride-able. The pickup as you can see basically only had damage to the passenger side of the bed, but still drivable.

The funny thing is, the guy from the pickup wouldn't even come over to talk with me or the guy on the bike, he basically just stayed in the parking lot off to the right of the intersection.

been there, its a scary thing, and if you're anything like me, it'll be a while before you're truly comfortable in traffic again.

And unfortunately I drive about 850KM's a week for my job, but that is a big step-van with a big steel bumper!

Ohhh, he wouldn't have had to come over to talk to me, we'd have been having a conversation one way or the other. You can bet your **** on that.

I would have gone over to the parking lot to talk to him, but couldn't really leave my car. I am hoping insurance finds it was his fault and my car is a write off. Otherwise it could take a month or more to fix probably...

I kinda doubt that's fixable.

And if he turned in front of you, its definitely his fault.

I also think the way you handled yourself is very commendable. You were probably better off not talking to him it could have escalated!

I went to work this morning as I had to load my truck. I driving my brother's '06 Lancer sedan since he is on holidays. I can say I would never buy one. Anyways, on my home I also got into two accidents. One was this "old person" changing lanes one the far left across about 4 lanes and didn't see me. I laid on the horn while trying to avoid hitting him.

Then when leaving my insurance place in the parking lot an idiot decided they wanted to pull in front of me, so had to once again hit the brakes and the horn. And the roads are not nice today. I was looking at my insurance and I am paying for "Limited waiver of Depreciation" with a limit of $21,852. I told them I expect my entire car loan to be paid off since I am paying for this, even though I am 6 months over the 2 year purchase date and no one told me.

No, I only had the one, but was almost in 2 accidents today while on my way home because of people not paying attention and being idiots.

*UPDATE*

Just got off the phone with my claims representative. I should find out Wednesday about my car. It also appears the driver of the pickup truck doesn't have collision insurance. So now he is trying to make us claim fault, that he had an advance green and I didn't give him enough time to clear the intersection. My Claims Rep told me that we are not claiming any fault at all and that she will be fighting on my behalf. They have ordered a police report, but that takes 6-8 weeks.

I don't know what this guy is smoking, but I drive thru this intersection 4-5 days a week, every week. I know that he turned after traffic started moving on the green light for the thru traffic. We'll see what happens.

I will update again once I find out about my car. My dad showed the pic of my car damage to the body shop manager at his shop and in 10 secs he says $10,000 and that's not including what he can't see underneath the hood or the car.
