"Stay on target..." - Gold 5
Y'know, I never really thought about that... but how very true. Wasn't even a hesitation, just "zOMG TEH VADARS, KILLIT WIF FIREZ!!!1!111!!1!eleventyblaster!!"
Yeah, buddy, "Be like Han", indeed!

Well, who you *don't* wanna be in Star Trek is the second Red Shirt besides Scotty. Them guys were dead alla time.
"Let's see, I'm goin'. Spock, McCoy, Scotty... and..."
*points randomly*
"... YOU two, Ensigns Sacrificial Lamb and Cannon Fodder. We need your exceptional non-usefulness to distract the enemies from us, the important people. Let's go."
/"But sir, I'm Yeoman Dispensable Extra, not Ensign Lamb!"

Until Luke showed up, it didn't seem like Han was doing much of anything worth while.
Looks like he was just a poor boot-legger with a gambling habit and a spacecraft that was in the shop more than your average Camaro.

Han definitely shot first
and han did plenty good stuffs before luke and ben showed up. Imagine blasting around the galaxy in the fastest ship around gettin drunk, fighting in bars, smuggling illegal cargo and gettin hot intergalactic *** whenever he felt like it. thats pretty much livin the life right there

Wow, interesting post. I thought I was the only one around that thought Han was a real Bad-A__. He pumped 4 bolts at Vader and lived to tell the tale!
For those of who don't know, Han had lost his girlfriend, Bria, before he met Luke & Kenobi in the Cantina. He lost her, in part, to a bunch of scam artists fronting as a religion group.
That's why he hated religions and wouldn't credit Kenobi at first.
And the reason Chewie hanged around Han was because Han saved Chewie's life from an Imperial Officer who was about to execute Chewie. Han had a soft spot for Wookies becasue growing up as an orphan on a pirate ship an elderly female Wookie took care of him and made sure he got fed. It was the closest Han SOlo ever had to a mom.
Check out the book: Star Wars - The Paradise Snare. It will leave you in tears. Star Wars or not, it is a very provocotive book (for sci-fi anyhow)

Same here!
A lot of those novels really get into some beautiful stories of the characters. They only deepened my appreciation for Lucas' work.
I still think it was awesome that Han Solo had the ba__s to aim straight at Vader and pump four bolts..... likely knowing the 'usual' punishment.
When I was a kid I thought Luke's landspeeder was the coolest ride ever........... which kinda sorta explains why I have a very nice Mustang convertible! (Of course I keep my Tilt docked as the media center, no droids for me)
