I know i'm not an extremely active member on this board, I read more than I post, but K-mart has insulted and angered our family and we are asking for your support if you'd be willing to help out.

Why should K-mart be boycotted? Because they are a cold, heartless corporation that will fire a 30-year loyal employee without even an apology or thanks. I am glad they can't figure out how to make a profit.

This happened to my mom a few days ago. To add further insult to injury, they decided to let her go *ON* her 30th anniversarry.

Please read the full story here ... It was written by my dad, not me.

Please pass it along to any others who may be able to relate..

Thanks..

I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck finding something else. Don't worry, I won't be going there time soon.

I notice that you live in Milwaukee. Well, I live in Oak Creek (I guess you know where that is). Where exactly do you live in Milwaukee? If you don't mind asking, did your mom worked in K-Mart on 27th Street (I think there is only 1 K-Mart on 27th Street)?

K Mart was taken over in Canada

I worked there in highschool  and I have to say that it was the worst job I ever had. There was no training, no advertised products were available when in the flyer. In short, a poorly managed company IMO. I guess that is why Wal-Mart has crushed them.

I've already been boycotting K-Mart, simply because of the terrible way they run their corporation. It seems like every time I used to go in there, the cashier lines would all be shut down to TWO lanes. Not only that, but their shelves were NEVER stocked regularly, so they were always out of at least one thing I needed. Most of the time I asked, they had it in the back.

I worked at Target for 2 years as a cashier, cart attendant, guest service representative, and hardlines stocker, and we ALWAYS had the floor as stocked as possible. Everything we had was out on the floor, minus stuff we no longer had shelf room for, or the big stuff that was just too difficult to continue restocking. Our cashier lines always had enough people, except in the awkward RUSH of people to the front, when we actually called the floor workers to the front to cashier. Our policy was "1+1." We should have one person being rung up, and one person waiting per lane. This is why Target is the #2 retailer in the nation, when just a decade ago, I believe K-Mart was.

K-Mart is just an all-around terrible store, and news of this incident secures my boycotting decision.

:notnice:

That is truly a shame. But as a simple graduating Business Major even I an tell you that K-Mart is one of the worst managed companies of which I am aware. Seriously.

I will gladly join you in boycotting K-Mart, as this is but one of many reasons they have given me to do so.

I will pass the info on, as well as the link for the boycott list. My wife had a similar experience with a different company, only they waited until she was home and did it over the phone, so I can sympathise. I cant really say the name of that company for very complicated reasons, but I will say that I will never again buy GORETEX.

Best wishes to your mother on finding a new job, (try wal mart, I hear they pay better anyway)

I haven't shopped at K-Mart for several years now, mostly because I feel they do a terrible job of running their stores. I will gladly now make this an "official" boycott, however. I signed the petition and hope that your mother can find a new job soon. Good luck.
