no, youre right. the chili hides everything.
when you order a tamale, you don't know whether it's just an extra side of chili or if there is a tamale actually in there.

aaaand, the hot dogs of course (i seriously think they put vegetable on top so you don't feel as guilty after you've scarffed it down)

EDIT: what happened to ?! that was my favorite smiling smiley

It's really weird here. I eat mexican almost every day. Mostly at home. But the way we eat its just easy to make fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, chalupas, nachos, etc. all the time. I grew up eating it and that's what is here. It's probably about a third of my eating habits from breakfast to dinner. It's so easy to make, once you know how, and so readily available and costs less than other types of food.

Do you deep-fry your tacos?

We do make flautas. Which is a corn tortilla wrapped around some cheese and shredded beef and then deep fried in oil so you burn your mouth when you bite into it.

I'll usually dip them in guacomole or chile con queso or salsa.

Tonight its going to be my chicken tacos again. Chicken breasts stir fired in olive oil, onions, garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, oregano, until a beautiful orange sauce glazes over the chicken. Then put the meat in a warm flour tortilla with some shredded cheddar, green leaf lettuce, diced tomatoes, and the a dab of guacamole on top. I usually eat 4 or 5. The cheese will melt into the sauce that covers the chicken, its good.

I told you, even the Dairy Queen sells enchiladas down here. There are alot of bad places, but there are also so many good places. We are also close to coast, so fresh shrimp and fish is also available. And we do grow a few cows down here too.
