IKEA Opens in Arizona

What's the big deal? Why do people line up for S#;+ like this? Same thing with Krispy Kreme. I mean, c'mon. It's not like the store is not going to be there for, oh, the next 20 years. I don't get it. Sure, they offer free $99 chairs to the first 100 people, but watching the news this morning, there were about 300-500 people in line, 6 hours before the store opened? Same thing for Star Wars. Oooo, like it matters if you find out that Yoda and Jar-Jar are gay lovers before the other people in line for the 2:30 a.m. showing.

I understand line ups for World Series tickets, or sporting events (because it is a one in about 45,000-100,000 depending if the coporate world doesn't buy their 50,000 alottment first) opportunity.

Also, to all the 'Halo 2' fans waiting in line to buy their precious video game. While you're playing that game at all hours of the night, I'll be hooking up with your girlfriend at the bar, while you're wondering where "Ace is hiding, sniping the rest of your team." Don't worry, I'll get her home before 3. Whatever. And I'm talking to my so-called 'party dogs' that were lamos on the 4th of July, and recently on a Friday night playing that crap. No wonder 3 of you don't have girlfriends anymore. And for Christ sake, you're all over 30!!! WTF?!?

Sure, I play video games some. But I could care less if I'm playing Trung Phac in Vietnam over the internet, or just the CPU.

Sorry for the rant. Work has boggled my mind. I'll probably apologize in a week, but that's in a week. I'm living for the now.

I did find that amusing. That happened in the Woodbridge, VA store too.

If they are only giving away 100 chairs and you are 500th in line. Do you really think that 400 people will leave so you can get one?

Nothing. I just haven't had to wait in line to see the last two. But when I see people lined up, all dressed up, I kind of wonder what is going on in their head, what kind of drugs are they on, and do they think they can spare me some.

The only reason I have waited in line is to see it at Mann's(or whatever it's called now) Chinese Theater. And yes there are some crazy people in line.

I personally hate IKEA. Their furniture is crap, and you have to walk through the store like it is a museum. You can't just go in and get a couple towels or something. They set it up so you have to go through every F'n section just to get to a checkout line! :notnice:

The setup works worldwide though......Interesting story about IKEA. The patriarch of the company split it into 3 and gave a third to each of his sons. He said "In 15 years, whoever has made the biggest success of their third gets the entire company". As far as I know, that is still being competed for. The store near me takes over $1m on a public holiday

"Who are all these people?"

First thing I thought of when I saw the topic headline. Funnay.

Ikea is the siphonator. And yet, I still wound up buying some cork coasters that are great. $5 I think for a set of 8. Whoo.

/me doesn't go there any more...

Hey, it's not like they're forcing people to shop there. I don't know if the success speak more of IKEA, or the cheapish-ness of people in general.

But some stuff is great. I got an awesome office desk for less than $300.

Would I wait in line at the grand opening? No way in the eternal flames of the underworld.

Do I buy a lot of cheap crap from there? Heck, yeah. I'm cheap (and easy, ladies )
