We just got this notice at work:
In order to combat identity theft, Louisiana has passed House Bill-623. Effective July 1, 2005, this bill allows Louisiana residents to place a "security freeze" on their credit report. When a security freeze is in place, information from the consumer’s credit report, including a credit score, will not be released without authorization from the consumer. The consumer is charged a fee by the credit reporting agency to place the credit freeze on their credit report and they must place the freeze with each credit bureau. The credit reporting agency can also charge a fee to have it removed as well.
Anyone else heard of this in their state?

I just heard about this in PA too! Its to prohibit just any from running a credit report you. For example, those tons of "pre-approved" credit card offers we all get in the mail. In case you didn't know, they actually run your credit before they send those to you. :notnice:

Actually, that was his first and only bath he's gotten so far. He actually was very well behaved despite the fact that he was getting wet! Andy wants to do it again just to terrorize the cat even further....he's a meanie!

Over here, no company can run a credit report without a signed document in their hand saying they can. If they do, they are breaching the Data Protection Act and they get heavilly fined and can have their license to hold any private information revoked, thus rendering them bankrupt. We don't pay for it though
