I'll think about the fast-food places but I will keep looking at all options for now.

What about car places? I know my way around cars. After all my dream is to have my own custom/performance shop and I need more experience with that. I'm going to UTI for their outos course but this campus doesn't have collision/repair so perhaps I could learn by working at a shop. Fat chance. I wouldn't let a 17-year old touch expensive, modded sports cars.

I'm sure local landscapers are looking for labor and/or a nursery. Wal-Mart? Big Box Store? (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) Grocery Store?

Let you know a little something about UTI. Don't waste your money. Collision repair I would say school is worth it but not service repair. You'll pay those guys for two years to maybe set you up with a job changing oil and brakes. If you want to get in the field, start off at the bottom with a dealership or big chain store such as Firestone or Goodyear shop. If you're motivated, you will be far ahead of the game in two years than fresh out of UTI. We used to abuse those kids fresh out of UTI. You'll be making under $30k with $40k worth of loans to pay back. Just some advise you should take.

Costco won't hire you until you're over 18. Also, don't request a specific job in the application. Put in "open availability" and will do pretty much anything. Extremely unlikely a new hire will be put anywhere but the stock crew, cart crew or cashier assistant. The trick is to get in, once that is done, it's just a matter of having an open position in the department you want.

But I don't want to work anywhere for anybody. I want the training to open up my own shop with my dad and brother.

****. I better go back and reapply with the "any position" option, then.

You are really sounding childish, the real world is gonna kick your *** unless you wise up and realize the world doesn't care what you want

All that training and tuition will not make an expert mechanic out of you. Trust me dude. You will get out of school full of confidence and the real world will knock you down quick. Just telling you this because I made a career of it for a long time. Most custom shops can't do it all either. You need the right group of specialists to make something like that happen. Truly I would start with body and paint and go from there. Body and paint will get you a much better start to the customizing.

yep like Al said apply at all your local body shops they all ways need someone to wet sand. It will help build up those arms. oh yea pull your pants up before you apply.
Also as I stated before apply talk to the manager show up a few days later ask if they had time to review your ap. if you really think you want to work there show up again in about a week. It might also help if you get some reference letters from your high school teachers.

'But I don't want to work anywhere for anybody. Wise up bubba the world is rough and no one cares what you want, only children think they get whatever they want
