I dont see anythign wrong with it, especially after seeing what happens to kids when the parents don't give a crap. The kid has turned around and is doing better so far in the short term.

Yeah, I'm not sure how pschycologically scarring that can actually be. if it worked, then good for her.

Cool. My daughter just turned 9 months on the 10th and i keep telling her to get a job. She hasn't gotten one yet. But she has some promising interveiws!

On a serious note, I think its fine. Its not going to effect her daughter in a negative way. I can't stand people nowadays that are so worried about punishing their kids they let them do whatever they want.

Personally, I think there could have been a better way to handle that. Knowing how kids grow up these days, they will be put through enough embarrasment. Not my kind of parenting, but to each their own. That won't be my son.

I think its great. We as parents are spending too much time coddling to the pc patrol. Children need to be taught that there are certain things that are required of them, period. All things in life have consequences, period.

To the psychologist who said that the kid could be scarred for life or whatever they said, I would say they need to spend more time with kids. To a teenager a hug in front of friends can be a scarring for life incident and god forbid Mom drops you off at school wearing curlers and fuzzy slippers.

I am sure a lot of people disagree, but I would ask this? Which is worse for the kid, a few supervised hours of embarrassment with a truthful sign around your neck or something which is far more common, A parent who does nothing, lets the kid do what they want, poor grades, no work ethic, no responsibility.

My opinion is the second one is FAR worse yet no one calls child services on that.

My brother in law once told his son (who was mad and had just said I'm not your friend), I am not here to be your friend, I am here to be your Dad and part of that job is to love you always and part is to make sure that you are the best person you can be. I may not always be your friend, but I will always be your Dad.

And that is what I think is a driving problem with parents today...too many trying to be a good friend or cool friend instead of being a parent. Kudos to your brother-in-law. That's what I'm trying to be with my daughter...a parent first, a friend second.
