happy 4th everyone
i have long been a history buff most specifically the civil war era but since recently learning that my families military history goes much farther back i now have an interest in the revolutionary war and all others since. my Gr-Gr-Gr Great grandfather Asa, fought in the rev. war rite along side george washington in the very conflict that started the reason we are celebrating today.. his son alan my Gr-Gr Grandfather fought in the war of 1812 and was a decorated hero...i dont know about the mexican war of 1848 for texas but U.S Grant served under Robert E Lee in that war before each became generals in the civil war... my Gr Grandfather Daniel Franklin fought for the south and was captured at Chattanooga tenn . and served time in prison until he swore allegiance to the union and was let go.. my Grand father John H . fought in the spanish-American war of 1898 . Teddy Roosevelt and the rough riders. i dont have a WW1 link yet. but there has to be one. my father fought in WW2 but would never talk about it. to some war is a terrible thing. i had a brother in the korean war. three brothers went to vietnam . all made it thru. one of my
sisters served as a secretary in the white house during the J.F.K presidency but lost her job when he was killed. i have a few artifacts from some of the eras and the local library has many many books i have given them. i guess as one gets a bit older you want to learn a bit about the people you`re going to meet soon.....so in summation of all this one would think that all this brave good american red blood flowing thru my viens would have led to something more than a self admitted hot rodding sudwieser drinking redneck from alabamer... well it has . it won me "Most Domestic Fanboy " award on streetfire. happy forth everyone and dont blow off something you mite want to use later
