Haven't played much, but it still . Got the PS 2 version, though - so no online play for me if I understand correctly. The wireless Kramer style guitar is a lot smoother than the standard SG controller, for sure. I kind of don't like the way the characters look this time around, but that is just my opinion.

Stand out tracks... I would say either Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson or Through the Fire and the Flames by DragonForce, as it is completely impossible to play. Ooh and Pride and Joy by Stevie Ray Vaughn, because SRV is the man.

I play guitar, and i can play some SRV, like Pride & Joy and a few others. Stevie's touch & tone is simply the best ever. There are also DVD's of Stevies' performances which are great to watch.

Finished it and 5 star'd everything on Medium so far.
What I like about this version compared to #2, is that even if you have 5 bands, anything one band name unlocks, its unlocked for everyone.
So you don't have to start unlocking everything from one band to the other.
Next up...easy for the cash/achievements...and then to attempt hard and expert.
My fingers are going to fall off
Cliffs, the song by Muse, Pride/Joy are all great tunes.
The songs are great on this one (just like previous games)
Can't wait for RockBand either

Serious? I had suggested this song to be in a Guitar Hero game a while back. So awesome.

Also Metallica's One disappointed me. I wish they would have put Ride the Lightning or Seek and Destroy on it instead. Or anyone of there awesome songs. Also Holy Wars by Megadeth would have been awesome. More Iron Maiden would have been cool too. I would say that Guitar Hero 3 is better than Guitar Hero 2, but not as good as the first.

My lil brother is getting it for xmas for the PS3. I am not really into those kinds of games though. Right now I am hooked on Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction. Call of Duty 4 might be getting a purchase from me soon too...

It is absolutely ridiculous on expert. I managed to hit 59% of the notes!!!! It so fun though.

I'm a newb to GH. I've played "real" guitar for about twenty years now. I'm not a virtuoso by any means, but know my way around by ear. I saw a GH3 package advertised at Target two weeks ago. I was interested in picking it up, but I have no idea how the game is played and if someone like me would find playing it fun. Is the idea to basically air guitar your way through popular songs on your way to fame and fortune?

Its to follow patterns using 5 fret buttons, a strum button and a whammy bar.
Also in 3 you have to battle against bosses
Its a really fun game.
I play guitar...like REAL guitar... and I thought the game was going to be stupid. But once i played it at a friends house, it IS really fun.
If you really do play guitar, it makes things easier (especially if you are a fast accurate player in real life and can follow moving notes fast)

seems people who can play piano and wind instruments that use all fingers will have an easier time - my nephew plays well on expert mode because he has better coordination and his cousin also reportedly is quite good. they both played piano/keyboards... just a personal observation. =)

Thanks, maybe I'll get it for Christmas then. BTW Boomer ( I think you know we discussed this before) if they had any old school T-Hip songs on there I would nail those on expert no problem. Except maybe New-O and last instrumental break On the Verge, I always screw those up.
