i am totally hooked! already passed over 80% of the core game.
not including the monthly challanges and extras of course.
over 1,000 cars and a boat load of american classics, exotics, and supercars.

I'm not too impressed by the game. For one that was in development for 5 years, I'm a bit underwhelmed. And why are there like 148 S200's? Let's see less cars and more tracks please. JMO

sorry to hear you aren't liking it. i hear you about the number of tracks, but with course maker you can make more, and hopefully we see some new tracks for download from sony.

Thinking about picking up a PS3 because of this game, but, are the license tests/challenges still a PITA? I insist on getting the best results and don't know if I want to put that kind of time into a game anymore. Also heard the A.I. drivers are still mindless and the collision/damage is pretty weak.

 

dont forget the '70 Mustang from SEMA.

they are if you want to get all golds. some are challenging just to get silver. the special events with the karts are incredibly easy to win. you can earn big money in those pretty quick.the rest of the special events are a bit more challenging but nothing too serious.

 

the good thing though, is that you do not have to pass the tests to race certain races like before. although, i still passed all the tests

 

I was one of those guys who bought my PS3 for the sole intention of getting this game and I'm a bit disappointed by it overall. I think although huge, the car list sucks. I think they cheated a bit with the whole "over 1000 cars thing" most of the cars are the same version of the same vehicle. How many Civics, Evos, STIs and Skylines do you really need in this game? Most of the cars date back to its long development time too! Not many cars newer than 2004. Why do we not have a 2010 or 2011 GT? Or for that matter why not a 2007+ GT500? Why have a 2005 GT and a 2007 GT? They are the same friggin car.... just like an 05 Ford GT and an 06 Ford GT!

Not trying to trash this post but I think Forza 3 was way better. I like the open auction house and the monthly DLC. If your a Mustang guy Forza 3 is a better representation of the Mustang (68GT500KR,70 Boss 429, 93 Cobra,99 Saleen 00Cobra R, 05 GT,05 Saleen 07GT500, 10GT500) and American cars in general. Gran Turismo has some more complete stuff like rally racing but I still prefer the smaller more accurate car list of forza 3! Customization and damage are way better in Forza too.

Also Forza 3 lets you buy any car you want at any time as long as you have the cash. With Gran Turismo if the car you like is not in the new dealership you have to wait and hope you can find it in the used car dealership. I'm already 65% done with the game and I have yet had the opportunity to buy either a 00 Cobra R or the 65 GT350R! I can still find and buy every year of the Honda Civic though...

 

welp, hopefully upcoming dlc car packs will have better representation of ford vehicles. i'm hoping for the new vantage v8 and v12 and (a long shot) de tomaso panteras.

 

i could agree. the 05 and 07 Mustang GT are basically the same car. i could go and buy the 07 from the new car dealership but i dont like the japanese spec stuff (the marker lights above the exhaust and GT fender badges, nor how the stock transmission is geared like the automatic or how the gauges are in KPH WTF). so im just gonna continue to wait until the 05 GT appears in the used car lot. i finally picked up an SVT Lightning today.

 

I got two 2005 GTs in the game so far but I'm going crazy trying to find a 00 Cobra R!

 

Wow, you guys have some bad luck finding them elusive American cars. i've got the 05 mustang in windviel blue and the gt350 (i don't remember buying it used though). i'll gift you the 05, but the gt350 stays with me

i bought 2 of those.i sold one because i messed the exhaust up modding it lol. i think i still have the 2nd one i bought. not sure if i want it anymore.

Completely agree, I have both, and I much prefer Forza 3. For one, I like using vinyls in Forza, and that you do not need paint chips to paint cars.

you can take photos of standard cars during replays. of course they don't look as awesome as the premium cars.
