Going to Vegas in April
We were going to book on our own but ended up calling a travel agent to see what she could do for us to see if it would be cheaper. I don't know how, but she got us airfare for $138/person round trip. And I'm on the east coast so we had quite a distance to travel. Too good a deal to pass up! Might be worth you checking into.
We went the Sunday before Thanksgiving and flew back out Friday morning, so it was five nights. I posted a pic of the celebrity spa suit we stayed in at the MGM so you could see. I think the room was about $700.
**** what travel agent and where u leave from? I'm leaving from NY so that's an extra arm and leg right there.
I always thought Vegas was "immune" from weekend rate hikes. Just because everyday is like a sat in Vegas.

We rented a car for the day because we drove out to the western rim of the Grand Canyon first and then stopped at the dam on the way back. We didn't want to be on somebody else's time constraint either. You get the car for 24 hours with unlimited mileage. So after the dam we were able to really cruise the strip and head to Fremont Street and not have to depend on public transportation to get us there. The car rental place is right inside the MGM so super convenient.
yea thats what I was thinking. I figured I would rent it from like 9 am to 5 pm one day. We are going to get a monorail pass for 3 days also. I just picked up a open top bus tour pass for one evening. should be fun
How have I been missing this thread? Hmmm, well I've been there quite a few times, and always had a great time. What is your primary purpose for going? You planning on seein' any shows?
Good choice on the hotel. The rooms are nice. Anywhere on the MGM end of the strip is my recommendation. And I don't recommend walking the whole strip either. :S
When I went to the dam, we rented a car for the day. You can get your own tour while you're there...It's pretty cool stuff.

well a few more dayz until the 11th. So far we get to our Ho-tel MGM 11 am and just hang out around town do a little one arm take yer money 50 cents at a time bandits. Hit a few shops. If it warms up enough maybe hit the pool. Thursday night open top bus tour. Pretty much Thursday we should have a few hours to screw around. Then Friday rent a car and go see the dam and maybe head towards area 51. Hit the airport sat morn 11am
Love Vegas. Have some good friends there from high school so tend to hang out at some other places. Found a really cool dive bar and had drinks there. The Freemont Street Experience is really cool. DON'T try to walk from the strip to downtown, some less than desireable places along the way. Haven't done the Grand Canyon or Dam yet, usually drinking and playing cards! A few rollercoasters there too if you like that. Took the kids to the AdventureDome at Circus Circus the last two trips as well.
Lots of good shopping at Caesar's Palace and also at the Fashion Show Mall on the strip. And while you've got the rental car, there's also an outlet mall nearby that you might wanna check out.

I don't think the tram goes as far as Fremont Street. We went to Fremont Street on the way back from the Canyon and Dam since we had the car. All of the car rentals I found there we all 24 hr rentals and you just park the car in the lot and drop the key in the box, so it didn't really make a difference in price if we dropped it off at 9pm or 3am. The drive to Fremont Street we went through some not so nice parts so I'm glad we were driving. I did love Fremont Street, it was one of my favorite parts of the trip! I loved the view of Vegas and watching the fountain light show from the top of the Eiffel Tower.
There's not so much a definite cut-off, as there is just bad spots here and there. Certain spots will just be littered with cards/booklets for escorts. You'll see some really trashy people. The strip side is usually nice, but as soon as you turn a corner to go between 2 of them...it gets really shady really fast. If anyone tries to sell you tickets (or really anything even purses/etc), just walk away. It's either stolen or it's a scam.
one part that is a drag is I plan on just one carry on bag. So I won't be able to bring my knife with me. Is it easy enough to find a cab or bus service around there?
