A shining star among such mediocrity. He will be missed.
And to think, my son just bought tickets to see him. THAT sucks!

He just did a stand up near me about a month ago and I wanted to go and didn't do it. I sure wish I would have. I will miss his stand up.

i enjoyed his " clean " comedy as much as anyone but he was one of the genisis of that era which opened the door to the acceptance of the immorality of filth that is prevelant in society today .. the start of moral decay so to speak .. we would`nt have southpark if it were`nt for him .. i cant forgive him for that ..

There were lots of comedians during that era that helped push through that barrier. I can't personally hold George solely responsible for doing little more than saying what was on his mind!

Heck... comic geniuses like Richard Pryor did more for making profanity acceptable in main stream comedy than Carlin did. Carlin talked about seven words. Pryor used those words in his comedy routine and about 1000 more.

SouthPark is more a by-product of MTV and that mentally challenged duo, Beavis and Butthead.

It appears that George is even going to have the last word here.
The man was a genius for wordplay.
Rest In Peace George Carlin.

"In one of his most famous routines, Carlin railed against euphemisms he said have become so widespread that no one can simply "die."

"'Older' sounds a little better than 'old,' doesn't it?" he said. "Sounds like it might even last a little longer. ... I'm getting old. And it's OK. Because thanks to our fear of death in this country I won't have to die I'll 'pass away.' Or I'll 'expire,' like a magazine subscription. If it happens in the hospital they'll call it a 'terminal episode.' The insurance company will refer to it as 'negative patient care outcome.' And if it's the result of malpractice they'll say it was a 'therapeutic misadventure.'"
