The new PCM system on the 05 Mustang should have a knock sensor. It will advance the timing as far as possible under all driving conditions. Becaue of this if you put in 91 or 93 octane you WILL see a HP increase and a gas mileage increase. Whether you see enough of an improvement to make up for the 20 cent typical price differential to premium is another story.

On the other hand, as irishfan says, if your car was designed to run on 87 and does NOT have a knock sensor and can't automatially advance the timing as far as possible, you are wasting your $$ on premium gas.

I'm not an expert on exchange rates, but isn't that .89 in C$ per liter? When you convert to US$/gal there is probably not much difference.

yaa I forgot that. it is a liter. But I do think we are getting the better bargain just a little but. If we were paying arounf 1.00L Thats prob closer. maybe not. I'm not sure how many Liters are in a Gallon

1 gallon = almost 4 liters (3.8)

so 3.8 x .89 = 3.38 CAD a gallon = 2.48 USD

We aren't up quite that high yet.

yeah i dont worry about gas prices very much. its in the mid 1.90's here in VA. the way i figure it, i chose to buy mustangs w/ V8s and i love to drive and cruise. so i get gas. would i love gas to be back under a buck a gallon. ABSOLUTELY. but atleast i get 20 MPG. not 10 like some suv's HAHAHA

I don't get this. I run 87 in my car and it's just fine.

The price for higher octane here is from 5 to 10% more than 87.

No way am I going to see a commensurate increase in either hp or mpg.

Can you explain?

Prices are crazy in Europe already, I can only imagine what it's like now. If I had to fill up out in town in Iceland it's around $2.00 per liter due to the exchange rate here. I'm looking forward to getting back to the states.

Mid $1.80s here for the 87 and about $2.00 for the 93.

Exactly what I was going to say. We are paying more up here than most places in the states.

I have to bring this up. ever have a full tank of gas. and go out the next day and find a bone dry tank with you exhaust kicked and broken off the muffler. yaa it happened to me. and I have a truck with 2 big tanks. it costs me almost $100 to fill it when its almost empty. You have no idea how pissed I am. plus to make it better. I have to do some welding to fix my truck!!! :bang:

okay dude i normally can picture somethin cool to do with most vehicles, but i dont think i can think of anything cool to do to that truck  no offence but it would be pretty hard to make that truck look cool oh and have it still abel to drive here in canada... ur in canada right? what part in in edmonton... and i know that in winter here doing too much nice stuff to a truck like that just isnt worth it. the POS would be a wreck by the end of the winter... :bang: i hate winter btw... it pisses me off royally...

anywho ill end my rant fast... um... maybe BM can think of something to do with that truck cus i sure as heck cant...
