No it isn't. Doesn't belittle the point of "they/he must have their/his day in court because JUSTICE!" and other spewing of 'Mericaismness either way. One or all, the court must be held. Unless he offed himself, then it'd be case closed...

I really don't see where public execution would be a deterrence, in fact, I'm sure people would show up in large numbers just to watch such a ghoulish thing and make a spectacle out of it.
Besides this guy if half of what has come to light is true probably doesn't give a **** if he lives or dies, killing him would be the easy way out, better I think to lock him up in solitary confinement with nothing but a cot and a small window to let him know the passage of time.

I really don't see where public execution would be a deterrence, in fact, I'm sure people would show up in large numbers just to watch such a ghoulish thing and make a spectacle out of it.
