Drones

Who has one? What model? How high and how far can you fly? Where did you get it from and how much did it cost? Post a picture if it isn't to big of a pain. Thanks

I've thought about getting one but I don't know what I'd use it for other than pictures/video. They're awfully expensive for just that, at least the really nice ones are. Perhaps when I'm out of this neighborhood and in the woods I'll get one.

My nephew has one for his multimedia business. He decided on a Phantom. For work, if he flies it, he has to submit a flight plan to Transport Canada, and get insurance. He paid over $1000 for it, and says that's what you should pay for one that will stand up to some abuse.

Its more rugged than it appears...for fun he was hiking up a mountain and filmed his ascent. It crashed into the side of it, all that he needed to do was to replace a propeller.

It's supposed to have a homing thing in it that when it loses contact with the controller, it flies back, but he says this can be hit and miss...

For his multimedia work, he finds the LED lights a bit bright, and they sometimes are in a given shot, but he overall loves the quality and the images he gets from it.

Hope it helps.

I would like to connect my GoPro to something and fly it. Maybe even a Kite.
