How is him going over there any more ignorant that all of the americans that are over there to help rebuild and stuff? At least his motivation was genuine interest rather than greed like many of the other americans over there.

I saw this on the news tonight and they called it "farris hassan's day off" which made me laugh.

They showed the house he lives in and for those that wondered where he got the money to do this, money didn't seem like it would be a big problem.

It was dumb, but I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty impressed he actually made it there.

So you think helping others is ignorant? Americans lost there lives in Iraq trying help restore order and make the lives for the Iraqis better there, and you think that is ignorant?

IMO...What this kid did was idiotic, not to mention that fact that our government had to spend time going(and money) to pick up this idiot because of something "he" felt strongly about. What if he or one our service men or women would have been killed while trying to retrieve this moron. Our government needs to focus on other much more urgent issues in Iraq, not on some kid that thought he would go that "extra" mile for something "he" believes in. He put other people's lives in danger for something absolutely ridiculous, what a selfish thing to do.

As a soldier that has been to Iraq twice, I'm sick of civilians who think that they can just come and go into Iraq as they please. While it is now a free country, it is by no means "safe" and is no place for unneccesary people.

My real gripe is when these people who wander around the country for whatever reason get captured and soldiers and marines have to go out and risk their lives to attempt to rescue these "victims".

So thanks alot kid.

No I dont . However, dont believe that EVERY american over there is there to benefit anyone other than themselves, because it just isnt the truth. There are a good bit of people over there strictly because it pays well. If his going over there was stupid, then what about all of the reporters that flocked over there when everything was starting up? Who were they helping? I am not arguing with you that ALOT of people are there to help, simply pointing out that his motivation for going was equally as understandable as alot of other reasons out there.

I agree wholeheartedly. While his heart may have been in the right place, his head certainly wasn't. What he did was kind of like running back into a burning building. Now insted of having one victim, you have two.

That area is going to be volatile for years, it's just way to dangerous for civilians, or anyone for that matter.
