It just seems to me that everyone is basing their claims regarding his motives solely on his name, I would hate to have someone do the same to me. I would just like to see some more facts about him, his family and his past history before I pass him off as a Muslim radical who spent numerous years in the Army to then pull a crazy stunt like this.

More information from the local University paper, The Batallion. Problem is, I'm reluctant to really believe it.

From The Batallion

Although there is no clear motive at this time, Hasan is said to be unhappy about being deployed.

Investigators did not know whether Hasan is his given surname or if he changed it as a part of a conversion to Islam.

What would an alledged suspect be called if he has posted information likely to be perceived as anti-American providing a probable motive for his cowardly actions or if a former colleage advised him against voicing similar opinions with other colleages?

The posting on blogs has beens discussed and the former colleage was interviewed last night.

You know...he shared the same mindset, evidently, that the people we are at war with share. He acted on the basis of his religious beliefs. He killed mulitple Americans with the apparent intent of killing as many as possible. He committed an act of terrorism and he is a terrorist. You're right George.

Edit: You don't have to be a card carrying member of Al Qaeda to be a terrorist. I would even go so far as to say he was a Muslim terrorist. Because it doesn't look like he would have committed these acts were he not a Muslim.

Too bad that no matter what justice awaits him, it won't be cruel or unusual enough.

A portion of the article below confirms premeditation.

By MIKE BAKER and BRETT J. BLACKLEDGE, Associated Press Writers Mike Baker And Brett J. Blackledge, Associated Press Writers – 4 mins ago

FORT HOOD, Texas – As if going off to war, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan cleaned out his apartment, gave leftover frozen broccoli to one neighbor and called another to thank him for his friendship — common courtesies and routines of the departing soldier. Instead, authorities say, he went on the killing spree that left 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, dead...

Thanks, that's all I was trying to say. If that's where the evidence points, especially with his alleged blog postings, etc, then so be it! I just have a feeling that people who read the preliminary reports with the suspect's last name had already made up their minds without the background evidence. I just want to see all the ducks before I call it a flock

As someone with an middle-eastern maiden name (from a father that's agnostic and never practiced Islam!) I just have a bit more restraint when it comes to jumping on the bandwagon. I suppose I also hope that this is a case of a man scared of deployment gone simply mad, not a case of a man who put up a facade of serving our country just to commit this atrocity.

Regardless of what his motives were, or his background, or his religious beliefs, a tragedy has taken place that can never be undone.

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out those who have a radical view seek refuge within such a religion as the one practiced by muslins. They want to be part of and feel oppressed. It is that simple. Those in doubt should analyse totalitarian institutions and how they feed. A simple research needs not be reached that far either. It is around the corner and as close as where our feet are planted on.

As I began posting I was well informed although bits and pieces were not fully confirmed or concrete. As soon as I read Gary's post and added mine I knew, without the benefit of a surprise or being offended, there would be comments expressing contradictions. Just for the sake of defending the indefensible.

I'm not defending anyone, especially someone I don't even know and someone who committed such heinous crimes. I already expressed that my beliefs regarding this individual are in line with yours. I also don't think you would make assertations without doing your research.

I was merely commenting that I think quite a number of folks probably scanned the article, saw the indvidual's last name, and said "terrorism." That's all.

I didn't and my previous comment was not specific or directed towards you. It was intended to be absorbed as in a general term.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

As reported on cable news, the alledged shooter was heard to be yelling something to the effect of "allah is great" in arabic while discharging his weapons leading to the previous assumptions for this senseless massacre to be conclusive and above all, accurate, as well as offering undisputable evidence this was yet another attempt by a muslim perpetrator to justify and masquerade premeditated murder as a religious mandate and just cause.

As with all previous islamic terrorist attacks, the more casualties the better, the more pain and suffering induced the better. These people will never stop killing, they like it. It is they own private Olympics with gold medals all around. If it is not the Jews it is Americans or the English or their own kind when they become bored.

LOL, I can't even say that with a straight face, lol. He's a piece of sheet, and he needs to be executed, there is no way we should be paying to keep him up for the rest of his life. Kill that mother****er immediately for his sake and our own.

I've been out of town for a week did something take place? I go back and forth on the executing slime like him. If you executel him then he becomes a martyr to the next Jihadist who wants to do the same to our brave Men and Women.

I really dont understand how you can become an American Citizen and then so easily be radicalized? Hate our way of life so much that you now want to kill us?

Lock him up in our worst prison, and let him be the prison girlfriend.
