This was a disturbing scene and then on the heels of it Carolina & Clemson had to act like MAJOR REDNECKS at the end of the football game. I am a Clemson fan but this was embarrasing to the whole state of SC in my opinion. :nono:

although i do give some of the fault to the fans, the major fault goes to artest in my opinion. any "PROFESSIONAL" should never, ever go into the stands, whether they got a drink thrown at them or not. this isnt the first time a fan has thrown a drink at an athlete, but it is the first time that such an ugly brawl ensued. if artest had been a professional, and not gone up to the stands, the secuirty, although slowly, would have gotten the person who threw the drink (artest didnt even go after the right guy for goodness sakes!), and everything would have been over. artest gets payed millions of dollars to play professionally and act accordingly, artest didnt.

I don't know why you guys make such a big deal out of one fight. So what, things like that happens all of the time. You wouldn't beleive how many times fans went into stadium (or arena) and started fighting with players in Europe.

NBA=Not Bothering Anymore. Been that way for years. And after some of the fiascos we've witnessed in MLB, I'm very close to giving up on that. Read some of the comments on Sports Illustrated and you'll see that I'm far from alone in my opinion.

Try again.
Now, these are real fights. Not Artest punching some guy for throwing soda on him. He wouldn't survive a second in these arenas and stadiums.
Once again, fights like one on Pistons-Pacers game is nothing compared to fights I saw.
But then again, there were moments like this too (when we won gold medal on World Cup in basketball 2002)

We don't know what we've been missing!
I wonder why it took so long to migrate over here?

You have no idea what you've been missing.
And this so-called fight on Detroit-Indiana game, that's not fight at all. Just Artest trying to get media attention. I would like to see him start "fight" like that on one of the games in Europe. He would be in hospital now.

2) You are right. Had he picked on a few of my past acquaintances, he would never see the end of it.
3) In my neck of the woods, he would be in the morgue.

2 & 3. Wear one of these jerseys and then go to North side of Red Star stadium ... and then, in your own words, tell me how you stayed alive.
p.c. 6 more months ... helloooooo EUROPE

Is anybody really suprised when we have over-paid, media-induced hero-worship, seldom-jailed atheletes? C'mon...baseball, football, hockey...its happening everywhere. The sports are just paying thugs to play, and there's never any real punishment when those "atheletes" break the law.
As far as Europe is concerned...just because riots and brawls are the "norm" over there, doesn't mean we have to like/want it over here. TBH, I think its pathetic that a "civilized" society can't watch a sports event without fear of severe bodily injury or even death.

Well said. Hero worship is for the weak and losers. A lot of these obnoxious fans live in a fantasy which they'll never set foot on.

You don't go to the game to "watch" a game. If you wanna watch the game, stay home and watch it on TV. You go to the game to cheer for your team (and by cheering, I don't mean yelling "defence").
When did you saw something like this on sports game in US? Those are real fans.
Or this

Its one thing to light flares or paint your face. That I don't have a problem with. Nothing wrong rooting for the team.
The problem is the lack of self-control when there's a bad ref call or other "negative" action. Sure, yell at the guy, but don't beat the guy next to you up because he disagrees or run onto the field and try to hit a player.
When I was in Germany watching soccer games, they wouldn't let you in with a can of Coke. Not because they wanted you to buy products in the stadium, but because it was a blunt object that could be used as a weapon.
