I was playing pickup basketball a month and a half ago and some a-hole dove and took my legs out trying to get a loose ball. Fell on my outstretched right arm and felt the ball slide out of the socket a bit.

I think I tore some muscle but I don't think its too bad as I only feel pain when I reach up high or outstretch my arm.

Still feel it partly due to my ignorance....ie. i still lifted weights and played basketball (slightly injured it again grabbing a rebound) :bang:

Anyway, my question is does anyone have any experience with this? Did it heal by itself? Anything I can do to strengthen it/ anything I shouldn't do?

Going for an ultrasound on my shoulder on May 3rd.

I feel like I'm on the DL.

Thanks,
Dan

hmm... I am sure a torn rotator cuff would be much more painful...

sounds like a mild shoulder seperation... just take it easy and let it heal... stay off the benchpress and shoulder presses.. see what the doctor says

I tore my achillies when I was 21... now that hurt

ouch, luckily i have never had an injury that bad, just a few charlie horses here and there, and some strained muscles. and i play regularly almost every sport depending on whats in season
but when i think of broken bones or tears, i just cringe. its like i could feel it

I think you're right but after reading up on it on the net, I'm sure that's the area where the problem's at.

Its not a major tear which could = surgury, but a slight tear/mild pull maybe or like you said, mild shoulder separation causing that.

Its not fun to have an injury especially when you're waiting for your appointment.

A torn achillies...now that had to hurt.

where was i during this remark? where was my old thing about this. if you still got the problem much less still looking or whatever ...

i got what the doctors decided on Rotator Cuff Impingement Syndrome ...

no tears or stretches (a year ago when i first had it checked)

they said that the rotator cuff was inflamed and out of place and maybe there was a cracked bone around there ...

basically all you described and the fact that you can see where the bones pop out ...

sorry for the late reply ... just had too much time and looked at the old topics ... yeah ....

"Rotator Cuff Impingement Syndrome"

Wow you got a title and everything! I had a wreck in march where when the vehicle spun around i slammed into the door. After exceeding my annual dose of radiation via xrays and an mri, they said it was "inflamed". After months of phys therapy i feel significantly better but it still hurts. I guess what im trying to say is shoulder injuries stink!

I feel for you Dan.

I waited until I was in my Jr. year of High School to go out for Football. It was my first year at a new school and I figured what better way to meet some new friends. To say the least I was in horrible shape. I made it through two months of "unofficial practice" but kept pulling the same muscles in both legs every single day. During the last week of preseason practice I fell over in pain.

Diagnosis ...

Grade 3 strain in both legs. Tore the same two quad muscles in both legs right off the bone!!! Couldn't walk for three weeks. Hobbled to all my classes the first week of school. (It was my first year at the school!) 6 months of rehab and constant pain for the next 4-5 years if I tried to run.

On the upside ....

I got a super hot trainer who just graduated college to massage my "injured" areas on both legs every other day.
