here are some of the bands in and around Montebello and East L.A.
as you can see. we dont do things half arsed in Montebello. youre either heavy as heavy can be, or youre nothing lol

my brother's friend's band:Death By Pig
The Funeral Pyre
Soul Taker

i dont like this kind of music that much, but thats what we have around here. We are all products of our society, so when 90% of the people in the city are Mexican and you see everything around you go wrong, things like pop music don't relate. just my theory on why our music is so dark

Coming from SoCal, the scene around here is mostly punk, hardcore, and emo, so here are a bunch of my local faves that I want to shout out to:

Eighteen Visions

Atreyu

Strung Out

Finch (they're from Temecula too)

From Autumn To Ashes

LetterKills

No Motiv

Well...that's all I could think of right now, but if you're interested in this kind of music, check these bands out.

Just in case anyone was interested... my favorite musician, Alex Arellano, has a site up. He is one heck of a drummer, no one surpasses his ability and inventiveness, imo :P

His site has pics, a video, his discography, and more stuff.

Here are a few quotes from magazines and stuff about Alex:
Modern Drummer described Alex as displaying "blistering technique and innovative musical approach."
PROGNOSIS on "eyes of the oracle"

Alex Arellano has a gifted flare for intricate cymbal work, as well as tasteful fills, he brings a ton of energy to the overall sound, relying on his unique coupling of cymbals, and toms to add to his precision footwork, he builds polyphonic rhythms that give the illusion of multiple players.

PROGNOSIS on "rooms of anguish"

Alex Arellano may be the best drummer you have never heard of, he playfully fills the musical voids with some of the most innovative percussive drumming anywhere, it is as if he were two persons, he follows the ever changing song structures with a dedicated time assurance, yet his hands are doing some of the most incredible cymbal work, and tom fills humanly possible, he is a special player
Takatoshi Oshika JAPAN DRUMS:

his style is a polyphonic and polyrhythmic tapestry, fluid and intricate with nuances accenting every beat your heart takes.

Enjoy! B)

I saw Lucky Boys Confusion live last week, and I must say those guys are hands down awesome... ("Yay, that guy!")

What kind of music does "Lost without Reason" play, Arin?

If you venture to Wisconsin, check out the Cool Waters Band. They are fun and original, and great musicians. Their sound is really unique, mostly rock but with definite hints of blues, soul, funk (with brass), and a little bit of deadhead jam band.

Other fun bands, albeit cover bands, are SPIN and Sonic Circus. Their a blast.

You're always welcome, but July and August are the only months I can pretty much guarantee it won't snow.
