I was going to dinner right around the corner(I know, that's all it takes) but I wear jeans 95% of the time. I REFUSE to ride without a helmet, gloves and my chest protector. I wear a icon jacket if I go out at night. I CAN'T do leather pants.

As for the person that was close to buying a bike like mine, be careful. That 600 is a "ok" street bike "starter" but still ALOT of bike. The 1000 is a WHOLE. We world, you will hurt yourself jumping on my new bike your first time out. And at that it's not even stock, which is a new chapter of learning. From my 600 to the 1000 it was a new level of respect.

Put some pants on! JK. Yeah, the gizzer 600 is not starter bike. I think they make over 100 hp at the wheel. When I was a young man I would have had to have one but back in the day we settled for hot running(at the time) Honda 650's and Kaw 650's. I did some crazy stuff back then.

Im not so inclined to go fast anymore. It hard to just stay alive with the idiots on the road. To the one guy that bought the XL 250 they are great bikes and Im old enough to remember them. You can get a lot of life out of one. I wish they still made bikes like those.

I just had to rebuild the carb on my 72xl250 and put throttle cables on it and I put 500 reliable miles on it, pushing to just a tick over 7,000 total. It was just my starter bike but I'm sort of getting attached to it, it's fun on and off road. I've heard nothing but good things about them,

I thought my 600 was a great way to "start", I'm not the smallest so that slowed me down also...

It has two helmets on there for a reason haha, if your ever up this way ill take you for a spin. It "MAY" be coming to Texas with me this year for Supra Nationals....

Power commander, Taylor made exhaust, rear sets. Has about 6k miles on it. The 600 has power commander, Akrapovic exhaust and about 30k miles on it. Not one problem with either bike. Love both bikes in different ways...I'm going to be putting some new tires on the 1k we will see if it feels good as the 6 did.

I wish I could have my 600 back some days, 2 VERY different feels. I felt I could hustle that bike through turns way better then my 1000.

Yeah exactly...the little weight and wheelbase diff will factor that into it. I'm hoping better tires will help that out a little. Stock tires I'm constantly sliding out. The 6 rides on rails through the turns...

Im in need of tires, I am looking at the michelin pilot power. The 600 had SOME slide, but it felt like it was just enough. The 1000 is pulling the nose off WAY to fast to get any kind of good exit.

Pilot power 2ct is what I always buy. I power to hard through turns for the regular pilot powers. My edges start bubbling after a few good turns. In a warmer climate the diablos are killer tires...but here in Chicago they don't heat up enough to grip.

Kawasaki Ninja 250! This thing feels like a 600 though, and i had the chance to ride a zx-10
When i graduate im definitely steppin up to the zx-10. Btw the kid is my little brother (:

I was going with the 2CT, and I rode on the pirelli's and I was by myself, on a stock ZX14...at 1am in the interstate...

The diablos had a odd feel to them after 10 minutes of high speed running(100-160). But they are nice, but like you said you have to scrub them for a few minutes to get some heat built up...

I always do a couple peels or quick burnouts to get temps up no matter when i ride. Round here drivers arent very "skilled" so gotta be on the ball. Plus i live the smell of burnt rubber in the mornin

I don't do all that, I just "scrub" the tires for a mile or so. Anyone that has ridden a big CC street bikes knows that "tank slap" as the tires spins with the front end off the ground is less then fun. Thats a nice 250, how old are you?
