First bike was an 02 HD sportster 1200
Current bike is a 2011 HD street glide 103ci, that about... 1700 ish cc, love it a lot but my sporty was also pretty fun

Very nice bike, I have been kicking around the idea of a "cruiser". The 1000 is fun(DUMB fast) but its a little uncomfortable to ride for long hours. Maybe I should go with like a sportster?

I have a 03 1200 sportster like the poster above. Its a love hate relationship.

I have found myself yearning for a Triumph Bonneville Speedster of late for some reason.

To the OP. My friends son has a 600 gixxer that I rode the other day. It was my first time on a sport bike. It was a hoot but I could not live with one because of my back. The brakes are just over the top they are so good. I wish the cruisers would get something like that.

A sporty isn't a long rider really it's better then a rocket but to be honest it's still just a in town bike, I found my butt got numb after 75 miles or so

I will get on mine and go anywhere. Your out of gas at 100 miles and ready to get off anyway. Vibration is the problem. Mine smooths out at 70-75 and I run it there all the time. I sit on it for 10 hours straight one time only stopping for gas. I was wore slap out.

Something I have noticed in my area is there are a bunch of people on scooters these days. I have been half tempted to get one myself just for really short trips.

I have an 06 Black Harley Electra-Glide Classic. Use to ride a lot but the wife got sick a couple years ago so we have not riden much. It is for sale. PM me if interested.

That 600 was a GREAT bike, I learned a lot of respect on it, now my 1000 is an animal. In 4th gear 130mph I can pull the front end off the ground without trying(not on purpose...pucker factor when I found out the first time lol). It goes where I put it, stops on a dime. I love it!

I can get to the beach (88 miles) before I am ready to get off.

I'm sorry to heat that man :bad: I hope everything works out. I would be interested but can't, I need another year on the 1000 before selling.

Used to ride a cbr 929 but the relationship fell through an the bike left. :( looking to buy a bike with a little less power in a couple months. :)

Ronin38 11/30/11 03:58 PM

I used to ride, but I won't buy a bike here in OH. I've nearly been hit in each of my CARS by idiot drivers around here. It's just too dangerous these days with the clueless car operators who don't know how to DRIVE!

What do you guys think about that new Honda "crossover" bike? I can't figure out if I like it or hate it... :dunno:

I bought a 1972 Honda xl250 and an 82 Honda xl250R for $150 for the pair last summer. I picked them up because after riding my buddy's '04 CBR600 RR the motorcycle bug bit me hard, but I wanted to get a good beginner bike to learn the ropes on.

My buddy wants a litre bike and if he puts his cbr up for sale I'm first in line!

Current bike is a 2004 HD Softail Deuce. Previous bikes include a yamaha virago, a gsx750 and a '78 KZ1000. (loved that thing)

Doogie 11/30/11 05:36 PM

I had a couple different Road Kings - '02 Classic and then a '04 Custom, both were very comfy bikes. But after a rather nasty accident in Sturgis in '05 in which we had 3 of our 4 bikes totalled, I am sticking to 4 wheels... which is how I ended up with the raptop :nice:

love the 600.

also, dont squid it up! Go get a jacket and some pants. Your skin will thank you if you ever go down. I've seen some pretty nasty road rash.
:nice:

I don't own a bike but I sure like to ride on the back of a cool bike!

houtex 11/30/11 10:37 PM

Ride is a 1995 Honda Pacific Coast (PC800). At the time, an oddity. Today, they'd probably sell pretty good.

Here's a GIS for them: http://www.google.com/search?q=honda...w=1680&bih=892

Mine's custom painted Goldwing Yellow, by a previous owner to match his Goldwing so his wife would have a 'hers'. Then she wouldn't ride it. :) Wound up with me somehow, and I love her. She's deceptively quick, and outhandles quite a few motorcycles. VERY stable at <2mph, you just creep forward and she wants to stay up.

I just wish she was runnin'. :( Poor girl, she's caught up in my other issues such as movin' and health, but she'll be back on the road soon enough. They're hard to kill, these PC800s. I gotta get her to a shop soon. The 1/1 ride is comin' up, and I plan to be on her leadin' the pack again.

/yeah, we ride on New Years Day. Unless it's STUPID cold... And even then...? :)
