My son and I are planning a June vaca to ALaska. Hope to fly to Fairbanks and do a couple days there followed by a drive to Anchorage. Looking for suggestions.

 

I dont know anything about it Ed, but I am jealous as it is one of the all-time top places I want to go.

 

Ditto. Looks like a 10-11 day trip, flying into Anchorage, renting a vehicle, and taking a driving tour up to Fairbanks, thru Denali, and other points off the beaten trail. I sold a Super Duty to a customer who works at the airport and he is going to take us out for a day in his boat to se the glaciers and maybe a little halibut fishing. Can't wait!

 

I lived in Fairbanks for 2 years. There is a huge salmon bake in Fairbanks some time during summer. Denali is very beautiful. I drove up to the arctic circle (pipeline road) once. Desolate as the moon, but interesting scenery. Make sure you brings lots of mosquito repellant. Those guys come at you in swarms. Might be some glaciers down in the Anchorage area. Didn't spend much time down there.

 

Never been there. My family almost went there for vacation in 2001 but decided to go to Hawaii instead. I'm envious!
