Anniversary Vacation Ideas?

Bridget and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary in March, and we're thinking about taking a little vacation. I've got a couple of ideas, but wanted to see what suggestions you guys have. Here are some I've come up with:
  1. Hawaii
  2. Lake Tahoe
  3. Vegas/SoCal/Grand Canyon
  4. Carolina Coast
  5. Disney World
  6. Atlantis, Bahamas

I just returned from San Francisco, California. It's an awesome city. I would highly recommend it. Here are some pics.

I'm headed to Madrid, Spain later this week.

Barcelo Maya Tropical resort on the Riviera Maya in Mexico, South of Cancun. Beautiful, relaxing, fun. You can take trips to Mayan ruins or visit a couple of eco-parks. We've been twice, both times were during early to mid May. The weather is nice that time of year, and all the little kiddies are still in school.

We have never been to Hawaii, but several friends and relatives have, and they all rate it as their best vacation ever.

We did a lot of research on vacation forums. Trip advisor has a forum and I think Ask Debbie is another. I don't remember the rest.

I hope you two have a great time in March!

I've got relatives that went to Hawaii & had a great time--I'd say go there or maybe Cancun. Save Disney World for a couple of years until your daughter can enjoy it more.

Out of your list, I'd chose Hawaii. I have heard stuff is really expensive out there though.

Yeah, I'd love to go to Hawaii. But for the money I'll just go to Florida.

I live in California and my wife and I just got back from spending 5 days in Seattle. It is a great city but the weather is starting to turn so I'm not sure that I would recommend it now.

Any chance I could get you to send me some ice cream from Joe's? My mother in law goes to Anna Maria 2x/year, and we've been several now. It's peaceful and clean. I like it.

if the choices are limited to your list, then Hawaii. If your open to suggestions, try Aruba. Been there several times last time for our 15 anniversary. Carribean cruises are also a blast.

Hope I didn't make it more difficult!

Man, now I feel cheap.... For our fifth I took my wife to dinner & a carrage ride. I'd do Hawaii - or - Atlantis (I heard it's cool). We celebrate our 14th on 10/9. I'll take her to McDonalds & split something off the value meal with her. (kidding!! I'm not that stupid or cheap).
You did give me ideas for next year.

Brad, congratulations to you and Bridget on your upcoming anniversary in March.

First choice: If you've never been to Hawaii.....go experience it! Suggestions: Read "Frommer's Hawaii 2008" or another tour book on Hawaii. Decide which island(s) you'd like to see. Waikiki beach, near Honolulu, on the south shore of the island of Oahu has lots of people and is exciting. Other islands are less crowded. If you have time, you might consider seeing a couple of islands. When we've stayed at Waikiki, we paid a little extra to stay at hotels right on the beach rather than a block away. It was worth it to us. Road to Hana on the island of Maui .

Consider vacation deals on the web that offer an air, hotel, and rental car package. We've used Pleasant Hawaiian and were pleased. We couldn't beat the price of their combined air, hotel, and rental car package. There are other companies that offer air & land packages also. Shop around for the best deal.

Las Vegas/Grand Canyon/So. Cal: Again, if you haven't experienced Vegas and the Grand Canyon, they are a must see at least once. Get a tour book and decide what you want to see. Consider calling ahead for reservations for the best seats in a popular show. For example, we'd love to see The Beatles Love - Cirque Du Soleil, at the Mirage Hotel. We've rented a car in Vegas and driven to the Grand Canyon - awesome. Also explore surrounding area of Vegas; Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam (aka Boulder Dam), Boulder City, Lake Mead. We made the beautiful ride to St. George, Utah once, but that's further away.

Lake Tahoe is beautiful. South Lake Tahoe has hotels and casinos. You can gamble and see some shows. However, it still gets cold in Lake Tahoe in March. My wife Kathy and I have brought our bicycles up to Tahoe and ridden the excellent trails all around the lake. If it's late March maybe you and your bride might enjoy putting something warm on and renting bikes for a ride.

Please share your adventures with us with a post. Have fun!

My $.02

Hawaii.........would love to go one day! Not sure if I can handle it taking so long to fly there from the East Coast! I hear the Atlantis, Bahamas is really nice........never been there. +1 for Aruba! I have to say that I love it! We've been there twice and would definitely go back again! Here's a pic from our patio room.......step out and the beach is right there!
