I can bring it back much worse is you would like...
Andy, we dont have any booms or anything All of our equip has been donated, including the engine and a few other LARGE pieces. Remember this department has been operating but for less than 1.5 years. We are still coming around, but its good and we have gotten the job done safely.
Well safely except one guy.. he was stupid and decided to cut a tree that had fallen on phone lines... he got it cut and right about the time he made his last cut, a huge log (about 1.5ft diameter, 8ft long, est. 600lbs) came flying up like it was shot out of a rocket! it nailed him and sent him across the 2lane road. The tree ended up in teh woods. Man that was scary to watch, but we couldnt stop laughing after he got up ok.

Yikes!!!! He was really lucky!! I bet he had a good few bruises after that though. Sometimes the slower ones have to learn the hard way.
Scott I agree with you completely. You guys sound like you get the job done well and thats what counts. So many departments now a days think they must have the newest, best and most expensive equipment on the market. Its completely false, as long as you have the training and maintain the equipment you use you can get the job done just as well
I remember when I started I got stuck with the OLD Scott SCBA units. The 4500 psi units weighed just about 45-50 lbs while all the other guys used the lighter fiberglass wrapped units that only weighed about 15-20 lbs. I got the job done just as well as they did

A little tid bit of info: Fire trucks or "wagons" back in the old days were painted red simply because at that time it was the cheapest paint to use. Funny huh?

Everyone else around has red- I prefer red.
The yellow here clashes with Eleanor.

Hey guys, I'm only 17 so I can't join the local fire department yet and as it is where you guys live it's all volunteer too. My dad has been in the fire service for over 25 years now (I think) and has a business called "Pumped and Wired Emergency Vehicles" he fixes and tests firetrucks across Nova Scotia. I get to work for him in the summer and get to learn a lot about how firefighting is done and how firetrucks work. I like the test days the best because we go out to some lake or pond and pump water and measure flow and pressure.
The fire department has 3 pumpers (engines), an arial platform, a tanker, a Haz-mat trailer, and two rescue trucks.
Here's the newest addition to the Wolfville Fire Department.
