FLAG HISTORY

KC

Long May She Wave!

Three cheers for the Red, White, and Blue,
the symbol of Freedom, for me and for you.
Our American flag has oft' told a story,
of victorious battles won by ... "Old Glory".

She's been around, for about two hundred years now,
and weathered many a tyrant's attack, fray, and row.
She's waved from ships and parapets,
in a very proud manner,
and many know her as: "The Star-Spangled Banner".

She has Fifty stars, one for each sovereign State,
and Thirteen stripes, for the original colonies, of late.
Her Red stands for Courage,
her White is for Freedom, so true ,
and her stars' celestial background is her Royal Blue.

Oh, our Flag is a symbol, and we love her quite dearly,
when our National Anthem is played, you see it quite clearly.
Yes, she is the Unity, "O'er the Land of the Free"
and the "Home of the Brave,"
so, we humbly beg of our God, please:
"Long May She Wave!"

LONG MAY SHE WAVE!

On a distant hill you see her,
colors blowing gently in the breeze,
The red, white and blue
a lasting impression leaves.

For the red stands for the blood
of men and women who died for liberty;
The white stands for our hope
and the blue for loyalty.

Our flag is a symbol of our hope
that the world will one day be free,
Long may she wave, and be honored
always in our memory.

The homes throughout the country
fly our flag with so much pride,
For each loved one who serves today,
for all those who have died.

For every veteran who stands and
salutes the flag as it passes by,
For every heart it has ever touched;
for every tear in a parents eye.

Long may she wave, Old Glory!
Three cheers for the red. white, and blue!
May freedom ring and our hearts sing
and give our flag its due!

No offense to Ford folks but these were my favorite patriotic cars back in the day. Good old AMC!!!

My favorite of course was Bobby Allison's 1975 Coca Cola red white and blue Matador. He won both Darlington races that year. Fun video to watch under the photos with Keith Jackson doing the play by play. .Listen to the winning payouts (prize money) also near the end. Watch also towards the end the lack of safety equipment Bobby is wearing.

Bobby IS the MAN!!!
If I'm correct he's won the most NASCAR races in the most makes of cars by manufacturers.

I got it when I bought my white 2007 GT500 in Georgia and the dealer gave it to me for free. I guess they felt sorry for me for paying the $5K above MSRP! ...

My Plate on my Mustang has Challenger on it

American Eagle Foundation
In 2003, the non-profit American Eagle Foundation (AEF), headquartered at Dollywood, announced the approval of Tennessee State legislation (Bill No. 1303) for the development of a vehicle license plate honoring the Bald Eagle, our nation’s Freedom symbol.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the new plate has benefitted the AEF since that date!

The special plate features the image of Challenger, Tennessee’s nationally famous Bald Eagle that has flown during the National Anthem at numerous major league baseball and football games, including the World Series and Pro Bowl. Challenger is the first Bald Eagle in U.S. history trained to free-fly at major sports stadiums and high-profile public events. The 28-year old bird is cared for by the AEF and used for educational purposes.

“We appreciate the State of Tennessee working with us to develop this special license plate,” said Al Cecere, AEF President. “This is just one more way we can promote the cause of protecting the Bald Eagle and continue our efforts to increase its population in the wild.”

Tennessee wildlife/nature artist Spencer Williams, an AEF board member, was commissioned to paint Challenger’s image for the plate. Laprees Advertising & Design of Sevierville created the graphic layout.

Plates are available throughout Tennessee at the County Clerk’s office.

The non-profit American Eagle Foundation is federally licensed to provide care to more than 80 birds of prey daily, including about 37 eagles. These birds are non-releasable due to permanent physical disabilities or accidental imprinting on humans. Many of the non-releasable eagles residing at the Foundation’s facility have successfully reproduced while in captivity. The organization operates the world’s largest Bald Eagle breeding facility and has released dozens of captive-hatched eaglets into the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains area. They have also been a party to releasing hundreds of other eaglets into the wilds of Tennessee in cooperation with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. The AEF supports numerous public education and eagle recovery and protection projects in various states.
