Its illegal under federal law unless you have a license (extremely expensive and full of regulations and requirements), as far as I know. (For distilled spirits).

Only brewery around here is the Spoetzel brewery in Shiner. There's a large Czech population here and Bohemian.

What's crazy is that most local restaurants don't carry it. Shiner. Bars do. For most of the 90s and 2000s it was the beer of choice in college towns like Austin and College Station.
According to the brewery it was a beer that they always had trouble selling, Bock. It wasn't watered down as much as American beers and then it caught on in the bars on 6th street in Austin and the rest is history. The always sold their original Shiner beer to the local Czechs and Bohemians, but it was the popularity of Bock and the subsequent beers that really brought them big success.

Pretty sure I have heard of Hair of The Dog, not sure if I have had any. Usually look for new beers when I am back. Sweetwater 420 is awesome too, Al may know it.
