ZL/1 revealed!

Remember how high Clint Eastwood wore his pants in Grand Torino (almost up to his chest to nail the grandpa look)? Well, that's exactly how the Camaro (yes, even the ZL1) looks to me: high waist with boxy hips. Ugh!

i don't understand why the ZL1 concept is using the old rear end. We already know the camaro has new tail lights and moved the ugly backup lights to the tail lamps.
I am one of those that think the grill lights in the Mustang look stupid.

Alot of people think the drivi... errr... fog lights in the grille of the GT look stupid. However We like them and they offer a very distinctive look to the Mustang. Its one of the few cars at night that is easily identifiable (and great fun when other drivers start flashing their lights at you when they think your high beams are on )
They seemed way too high and big for fog lights.
I then changed them over to true driving lights.
Now they seem to be very purposeful and fine to me.
Of course, I can't have them on at night if anyone is coming at me.

I think those tail lights, in addition to different mirrors and some other subtle modifications are for the Euro-spec Camaro only.

Good point, could well be............but for me, this is just the Camaro's recent Australian-developed roots showing through......

Nice. ZL1 over Z28. Kind of what I clamored for since the Camaro and "rumored" Z28, came out. Hmm now wait to see what a production unit looks like, and what bits they change on the LSA if any. The CTS-V sourced shocks are definately a welcome addition and one thing I asked for when they asked for our input. I wouldn't guess more than 565 ish on the HP, just a random guess. More than the CTS-V but unless they do more with the LSA intercooler I don't see them adding much if any boost to it. I'm still really interested in seeing what it handles like with the new shocks and electric power steering. It'll more than make up for the current cars under sprung deficiency I'm betting. I'd debadge it completely like the original ZL1's though.

well ... i went to the Chicago Auto Show last weekend and spent some time w/ the Camaro. I've sat inside the new Camaro previously but not when comparing multiple cars in a single day, which is the good thing about the Auto Show. let me start by saying this car looks awesome on the outside and that I'm sure the LS3 is very nice...
but the interior is atrocious. i can't really mince words here because imo it really is that bad. the gauges look like they're off one of those little cars you buy your son. the center console's hvac controls look and feel like a playstation 2 remote. the passenger side dash looks like empty, like they forgot to finish building it. the interior "accents" are large, cheap pieces of plastic -- not "interior plastic" either, but plastic that's the same grade and quality as that of my cat's litterbox.
the seats, not bad ... the shifter? good. but dang, does the rest of the interior ruin its couple of decent attributes. to boot, the visibility is horrible -- i mean, its really bad. its almost like you're in a tank. now, i wouldn't mind the poor visibility. i mean, you need to give some things up for a cool looking car, but the interior is just so bad that its hard to forgive the poor visibility.
i really wanted to like this car too -- out of the three "detroit pony cars" (camaro is built in canada ) the Mustang is still the best. its interior is just better, period. and w/ the 5.0, you really can't go wrong with it.
well that's enough of a rant. way to improve the Camaro interior for 2012 GM!
